Leslie Anderson

Leslie Anderson Stephes (born March 30, 1982 in Guantánamo) is a first baseman/outfielder with the Yomiuri Giants organization in Nippon Professional Baseball.

Career

Anderson previously played for the Cuban national baseball team and Camagüey of the Cuban National Series. He was part of Cuba's roster at the 2006 and 2009 World Baseball Classics.

Anderson, who is primarily a center fielder, hit .363 during the 2005-06 season. Anderson defected from Cuba and signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Rays prior to the 2010 season. Released by the Rays after the 2013 season, Anderson signed with the Yomiuri Giants.

Leslie Gilbert Anderson (20 September 1891 – 18 May 1979) was a New Zealand cricketer who played for Otago. He was born and died in Dunedin.

Anderson made a single first-class appearance for the side, during the 1923-24 season, against New South Wales. From the tailend, he scored 4 runs in the first innings in which he batted, and a single run in the second.

Otago lost the match by an innings and 327 runs, which remained for 26 seasons their heaviest margin of defeat.
