Les Smith

Les "Lecter" Smith is an English keyboard player. He originally worked with neo-prog band Ship of Fools and did session work on keyboards for the British band Anathema on their 1996 album Eternity before joining extreme metal band Cradle of Filth. During his time in Cradle of Filth (1997–1999), his stage persona consisted of wearing a custom Vicar Priest top, black leather trousers and goth make-up. He played keyboards in two of Cradle's releases: Cruelty and the Beast and From the Cradle to Enslave. Les Smith was also a member (along with drummer Mike Heaton, guitar Mince, & vocals by Stag & Azzy), of the riotous band The Tourettes, which in turn was a spin-off from the highly controversial Batley based thug band "The Healey Beats". Post-Cradle of Filth, he accused vocalist Dani Filth of considering it his own solo project ("Dani and the Filths" he jokes). However, they are on good terms these days. Les, like many other Cradle members, is from the north of England, and has appeared in video and interview on Cradle of Filth's 1999 DVD 'Pandaemonaeon'.

Les Smith (footballer, born 1918)

Leslie George Frederick Smith (13 March 1918 – 20 May 1995) was an English footballer. Smith was the son of Francis Edmond and Ethel-May and he had one sister, Frances (m. Byrne). He was born and educated in Ealing and was a junior with Petersham, before joining Brentford as an amateur on 26 June 1934. Whilst as an amateur he gained experience at both Wimbledon and Hayes F.C. on loan, before turning professional with the Bees in March 1936 as an outside-right. On 24 May 1939, he was capped by England, replacing the injured Stanley Matthews against Romania, to become Brentford's second and final England international to date following Billy Scott in 1936.

When the war broke out, Smith played a vital part in the RAF as a rear gunner, where he consequently met his future wife, Joan (who was part of the women's RAF). However Smith still managed to play for Brentford during the war. He also played 13 wartime internationals for England, 11 whilst a Brentford player and 2 once transferred to Aston Villa. He also played in 3 'unofficial International matches', under the guise of an FA XI, but all players played in England shirts, all were English and all received notification on English FA headed paper.

Leslie "Les" Smith (2 October 1920 – 2001) was a professional footballer, who played for Huddersfield Town and Oldham Athletic.

Smith began his career as an amateur at Stockport County, but left the club without making an appearance for the club. In March 1946, he joined Huddersfield Town, where he spent three years before moving to Oldham Athletic where he spent seven seasons, playing close to 200 first-team games.

He died in 2001.

Leslie "Les" Smith (28 May 1900 – 12 January 1975) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL).

Smith, who Geelong acquired from Newtown, started out as a wingman and rover but played mostly as a defender during his league career. He was a regular in the Geelong team throughout the 1920s. In 1925 he was one of only five Geelong players to appear in all 19 games and was in the back pocket in their 1925 premiership side.
