Leonid Slutsky (politician)

Leonid Eduardovich Slutskii (Russian: Леонид Эдуардович Слуцкий, also transliterated Leonid Slutsky or Slutskiy; born January 4, 1968) is a member of the State Duma of Russia, a member of the LDPR party. Currently he is the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the "Commonwealth of Independent States, Eurasian Integration and links with compatriots". Slutsky as been a First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma's Committee on International Affairs. He is dean of the international relations department at the Moscow State University of Economics, Information and Statistics. He has held senior banking positions and was an advisor to the mayor of Moscow. Slutsky also reported to a directorate of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR. He holds an economics degree from the Moscow Economic-Statistical Institute.

On March 17, 2014, the day after the Crimean status referendum, Slutsky became one of the first seven persons who were sanctioned by President Obama under Executive order 13661 The sanctions freeze his assets in the US and ban him from entering the United States. Due to the Crimean crisis he was put also on the Canadian and the EU sanction lists, 17 March 2014.

Leonid Slutsky (football)

Leonid Viktorovich Slutsky (Russian: Леонид Викторович Слуцкий; born 4 May 1971) is a Russian professional football coach and a former player, who currently coaches the Russian national football team and PFC CSKA Moscow.

Playing career

Slutsky's playing career ended at just 19 years of age. He had to retire due to a knee injury sustained after falling out of a tree while rescuing a neighbour's cat.

Coaching career

Slutsky was head coach of FC Moscow 14 July 2005 until the end of the 2007 season. His final match as head coach of Moscow was a 3–1 win against Luch-Energiya Vladivostok on 11 November 2007. Slutsky was head coach of Krylia Sovetov between 1 January 2008 until 26 October 2009 when he replaced Juande Ramos to became the head coach of CSKA Moscow. In December 2009, under Slutsky, CSKA reached the knock-out stage of the Champions League for the first time in the club's history, before being knocked out by Mourinho's Inter Milan in the quarter-finals.
