Leg

A leg is a weight bearing and locomotive structure, usually having a columnar shape. During locomotion, legs function as "extensible struts". The combination of movements at all joints can be modeled as a single, linear element capable of changing length and rotating about an omnidirectional "hip" joint.

As an anatomical animal structure it is used for locomotion. The distal end is often modified to distribute force (such as a foot). Most animals have an even number of legs.

As a component of furniture it is used for the economy of materials needed to provide the support for the useful surface, the table top or chair seat.

Anatomy

Anatomy is the branch of biology concerned with the study of the structure of organisms and their parts. In some of its facets, anatomy is related to embryology and comparative anatomy, which itself is closely related to evolutionary biology and phylogeny.Human anatomy is one of the basic essential sciences of medicine.

The discipline of anatomy is divided into macroscopic and microscopic anatomy. Macroscopic anatomy, or gross anatomy, is the examination of an animal's body parts using unaided eyesight. Gross anatomy also includes the branch of superficial anatomy. Microscopic anatomy involves the use of optical instruments in the study of the tissues of various structures, known as histology, and also in the study of cells.

The history of anatomy is characterized by a progressive understanding of the functions of the organs and structures of the human body. Methods have also improved dramatically, advancing from the examination of animals by dissection of carcasses and cadavers (corpses) to 20th century medical imaging techniques including X-ray, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging.

Saint Saviour (musician)

Becky Jones, better known as Saint Saviour, is an English musician from Stockton-On-Tees. Formerly of the electro band The RGBs, she toured with Groove Armada as their lead singer between 2009 and 2012, whilst also producing her own solo music as Saint Saviour from 2010. After releasing two EPs, her debut album Union came out in June 2012. Her song "This Ain't No Hymn" then appeared in the 2012 trailer for the film Miss Bala.

Saint Saviour's second solo album In the Seams was released on 3 November 2014. The album was produced by fellow Northern English singer-songwriter Bill Ryder-Jones and features the Manchester Camerata Orchestra. Saint Saviour is taking both Ryder-Jones and the Manchester Camerata on her December 2014 tour of the UK.

History

As she writes on her official website, "I’ve been hanging about the periphery of music for a few years now, mainly collaborating with electronic producers, writing really positive, upbeat pop/dance tunes." Originally from Stockton-on-Tees, she moved to London in 2003. She adopted the name 'Saint Saviour' after seeing it regularly while running in the St Saviour's Dock area of London. She was lead singer in the RGBs, who toured with Groove Armada, before joining the latter. In 2010, Saint Saviour provided a vocal collaboration for Groove Armada on their album Black Light, and toured as the band's singer.

Anatomy (album)

Anatomy is the 4th album by Dream pop band Drugstore. It was released in 2011, following an eight-year hiatus by the band, and available both as a CD and as a limited edition clear vinyl. The album was recorded at www.panicbuttonstudios.com with Steve Lyon on Platts Eyot, Hampton, a small island in the River Thames.

Leg (darts)

A leg is a single game in the sport of darts. Most darts matches are played over a number of legs. Alternatively, a match may be divided into sets, with each set being contested often on a first to 3 legs basis.

Start and finish

At the start of each leg, each player or team has a score of 501. A leg is over when either side reaches zero by hitting a double or the bull's eye. If playing several sets, the player throwing first is alternated.

Two-legged tie

In sport (particularly association football), a two-legged tie is a contest between two teams which comprises two matches or "legs", with each team as the home team in one leg. The winning team is usually determined by aggregate score, the sum of the scores of the two legs. For example, if the scores of the two legs are:

then the aggregate score will be Team A 5–3 Team B, meaning team A wins the tie. In some competitions, a tie is considered to be drawn if each team wins one leg, regardless of the aggregate score. Two-legged ties can be used in knockout cup competitions and playoffs.

In North America, the equivalent term is two-game total-goals series.

Use

In football, two-legged ties are used in the later stages of many international club tournaments, including the UEFA Champions League and the Copa Libertadores; in many domestic cup competitions, including the Coppa Italia and the Copa del Rey; in domestic league play-offs, including the Football League play-offs and the MLS Cup Playoffs; and in national-team playoffs in some qualification tournaments, including FIFA World Cup qualification.
