Leeann Tingley

Leeann Nicole Tingley (born August 20, 1981) is a beauty queen from North Kingstown, Rhode Island who has competed in the Miss USA pageant.

Tingley won the Miss Rhode Island USA 2006 title in a state pageant held on August 28, 2005. She is no stranger to pageants, having placed 1st runner-up in 2005, 4th runner-up in 2004 and in the semi-finals at Miss Rhode Island Teen USA 1997.

Tingley is originally from East Greenwich, Rhode Island. On April 21, 2006 she competed for the title of Miss USA 2006 in Baltimore, Maryland and placed in the top 10. Leeann was also roommates with Miss USA 2006 Tara Conner.

Tingley was also one of twenty six Miss USA Delegates who appeared on Deal or No Deal in April 2006.

Tingley graduated from East Greenwich High School in 1999. After leaving high school she initially began an accounting degree from Bryant University, but decided to defer her studies and pursue cosmetology instead. In 2002 she received a Rhode Island License in Cosmetology after completing a course at the Angelo School of Cosmetology and Hair Design. She is currently an independent contractor, with her own fully comprehensive styling and image consulting business. She specializes in multi dimensional hair coloring, and has created her own cosmetic line, LeeannNicole Cosmetics. Leeann is currently back in school, at Rhode Island College, where she is working towards her BSN. Tingley also aims to become a certified personal trainer and one day aims to open her own full service day spa and wellness center.

Tingley is a settlement in West Yorkshire, England, forming part of the parish of West Ardsley and of the City of Leeds metropolitan borough. The name is first attested in the thirteenth century, and on through the Middle Ages, in forms such as Thing(e)law(e), and Tinglawe in 1608. This is from Old English þing 'meeting, assembly' and hlāw 'mound, hill, burial mound'. Thus it was probably the meeting place for Morley Wapentake.

Geography

Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Tingley is situated between Leeds, Wakefield and Bradford but considered part of Morley. It has the WF3 (Wakefield) postcode area while the village telephone numbers are "0113", the Leeds prefix.

Government

Tingley was part of the Ardsley Urban district 1894-1937, which also included West Ardsley and East Ardsley and was then part of Morley Municipal borough 1937-1974. The village once formed part of the former Municipal Borough of Morley, and is still classed as part of Morley in the census. However, it is technically separate, and is not governed by Morley Town Council.
