Music career [link]

Leddra Chapman picked up an acoustic guitar and wrote her first song aged 12. She continued writing until she had enough songs to play live at local venues. As her career took off and she began touring nationally, she also taught herself to play piano and produce her own demos at her home studio. This resulted in an invite to play at Manchester's In The City Music Conference. Leddra played a 30-minute set to a capacity crowd at the Warchild Acoustic Showcase and was subsequently chosen as a Best of ITC in Music Week magazine, who described her as 'filling a similar space to early Alanis Morissette and Joni Mitchell'.

In 2009 she worked on completing her debut album Telling Tales with musical collaborators, releasing the record in late November 2010. Praised by critics as 'pitch-perfect acoustic pop' (The Independent)[citation needed], the album yielded single 'Story', which was championed by Sir Terry Wogan throughout his final months presenting the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show. "Story" was subsequently B-Listed on Radio 2 for seven consecutive weeks. This culminated in a televised live performance of "Story" on ITV's This Morning. The follow-up single "Summer Song" was also playlisted by BBC Radio 2. Leddra and her live band followed this up with a two-month UK tour that included sell-out shows in London.

Collaborations [link]

Leddra Chapman has worked with Ed Sheeran and covered Cee Lo Green's 'F**k You' she had also worked with 'up and coming' rapper Olly B and featured on one of his songs called 'Enemy Lines'.

Telling Tales

by: Leddra Chapman

Marisa Jones you watch the black suits walking past
Your life was empty for a while
Michael Porter has a new girl in his arms
She has a cherry flavoured smile
You watch as he greets her
His arms around her shoulder
Hell try to believe that its you
When he kissed you
Those delicate shoes
Used to walk you straight to the moon
Now he wonders why he never stayed.
Michael Porter you flew in from Timbuktu
You missed her red hair and her style
Marisa Jones now she's living all on her own
She loves the freedom of the wild
He pleads: Give me something!
She needs nothing from him
And she'll try to believe that its fate
And she'll miss you
But its far too late now
She's done through
Finished with crying for anyone
And now she wonders why she ever stayed.
Do you stop to think it all through?
When you run to
The love that you needed
To pull through
It ended too soon
And you tried too hard now its over between you
Nothing compares to the love you shared
But its all just a story now
And I hope your both happy now
As it all turned out: you never stayed.
