Knack (video game)

Knack (ナック, Nakku) is a platforming beat 'em up video game developed by SCE Japan Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment in cooperation with game director Mark Cerny for the PlayStation 4 video game console, for which it is a launch title. The game was released on November 15, 2013 in North America, November 29, 2013 in Europe, and February 22, 2014 in Japan. The game was bundled with the PlayStation 4 console in Japan.

The player navigates the titular character Knack through a series of levels viewed in a fixed camera, third-person-style view. Knack is a living humanoid organism that consists of Relics; a large central Relic is always surrounded by a varying amount of smaller Relics. Knack utilizes crystal relic powers, jumping, dodging, stealth and punching, in order to progress through the colourful environments, which are populated with enemies. The story follows Knack and his creator on a journey to save humankind from a species known as the Goblins. However, one of Knack's creator's former friends goes rogue. Knack and his allies must stop the antagonist's evil plans.

The Knack was an American rock band based in Los Angeles that rose to fame with their first single, "My Sharona", an international number-one hit in 1979.

History

Founding (1977–78)

Singer Doug Fieger was a native of Oak Park, Michigan, a northern suburb of Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in the 9 Mile/Coolidge area. The brother of attorney Geoffrey Fieger (later known for representing Dr. Jack Kevorkian in a series of assisted suicide cases) Fieger had previously played in an eclectic rock band called Sky as well as the Sunset Bombers. Although Sky had received a modest amount of acclaim, including being produced by Rolling Stones producer Jimmy Miller, the band broke up without having any chart success. As a result, Fieger made the decision to move to Los Angeles and start another band.

Fieger met the three other original members of the Knack in 1977 and 1978: Berton Averre (lead guitar, backing vocals and keyboards), Prescott Niles (bass), and Bruce Gary (drums). Niles was the last to join, a week before the band's first show in June 1978. In the meantime, Fieger had been doubling on bass on a series of demos that the group had shopped to several record labels, all of which were rejected. Some of these songs later made up the band's debut album Get the Knack, and included "Good Girls Don't".

Knack (magazine)

Knack is a Belgian (Flemish) weekly news magazine covering local news, politics, sports, business, jobs, and community events.

History and profile

Knack was founded in 1971 as the first Flemish news magazine in the country. The magazine was modelled on Time, Newsweek, Der Spiegel and L’Express.Knack has a left-liberal stance.

The owner of the magazine is Roularta Media Group. It is published weekly on Wednesdays. The headquarters of the magazine is in Brussels. It is Flemish equivalent of the French language news magazine Le Vif/L’Express which is also owned by Roularta Media Group. Both magazines are published by Roularta Printing, a subsidiary of the Roularta Media Group.

Knack has several supplements, Knack Weekend, Focus Knack and Mondiaal Nieuws, an alternative monthly news magazine. In 2010 Knack began to offer T'chin, a health supplement, together with its sister magazine Le Vif/L’Express.

Circulation

Knack had a circulation of 123,924 copies in 1998 and 126,303 copies in 1999. In 2001 the circulation of the magazine was 144,000 copies.

Sim (Korean surname)

Sim or Shim is a Korean surname. There are six Shim clans in Korea based in the regions ofCheongsong, Pungsan, Samcheok, Buyu, Uiryeong, and Jeonju. The biggest Sim clan is Cheongsong; they comprise about 85% of the all those with the surname Shim. Fourteen percent of all Korean Shims are members of the Pungsan and Samcheok clans. As of 2000, there were 252,255 people with this surname in South Korea, less than 1% of the population.

Sim (album)

Sim is the third album by Brazilian singer-songwriter Vanessa da Mata, released on May 28, 2007 by Sony BMG. It was partially recorded at Kingston, Jamaica with musicians Sly & Robbie. It spawned the hit single "Boa Sorte/Good Luck", a duet with Ben Harper, which peaked at number one in both Brazil and Portugal, and was the most played song in Brazilian radio stations in the year of 2008. The second single, "Amado", also became a number-one hit in Brazil and the 15th most played song in the same year.

Sim, Chelyabinsk Oblast

Sim (Russian: Сим) is a town in Ashinsky District of Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia, located on the Sim River, 340 kilometers (210 mi) west of Chelyabinsk, the administrative center of the oblast. Population: 14,466 (2010 Census); 16,377 (2002 Census); 20,164 (1989 Census).

History

It was founded in 1759 as Simsky Zavod (Си́мский Заво́д, lit. Sim's Plant), a settlement around an ironworks. It was renamed Sim and granted town status on November 13, 1942.

Administrative and municipal status

Within the framework of administrative divisions, it is, together with two rural localities, incorporated within Ashinsky District as the Town of Sim. As a municipal division, the Town of Sim is incorporated within Ashinsky Municipal District as Simskoye Urban Settlement.

It is the birthplace of Igor Kurchatov, a famous Soviet/Russian physicist.
