Technology demonstration

A technology demonstration or Demonstrator model is a prototype, rough example or an otherwise incomplete version of a conceivable product or future system, put together as proof of concept with the primary purpose of showcasing the possible applications, feasibility, performance and method of an idea for a new technology. They can be used as demonstrations to the investors, partners, journalists or even to potential customers in order to convince them of the viability of the chosen approach, or to test them on ordinary users.

Computer technology demonstrations should not be confused with demoscene-based demos, which, although often demonstrating new software techniques, are regarded as a stand-alone form of computer art.

Technology demonstrations are often used in the computer industry, emerging as an important tool in response to short development cycles, in both software and hardware development.

The Flatliners

The Flatliners are a punk rock band from Richmond Hill and Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Since their formation in 2002, The Flatliners have been a growing influence in the Toronto punk/ska movement as well as other areas of the Greater Toronto Area. They are currently signed to Fat Wreck Chords and New Damage Records (Canada). As well, they won the inaugural, annual "Best Band Ever" award given by the Edmonton Vinyl Blog DigitalIsDead. The small publication has also named their third LP, "Cavalcade" the front runner for their annual "Record Of The Year" award for 2010. Their album Dead Language was nominated for a 2014 Juno Award in the category of Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year."

"Lazy" is a single by English house duo X-Press 2, featuring vocals from Scottish-born American singer David Byrne. It was written and produced by X-Press 2 and co-written by Byrne. The song was released in April 2002 and reached number two on the UK Singles Chart, held off number one by "Unchained Melody" by Gareth Gates, and spent four weeks in the UK top 10.

Lazy (Orlová)

 Lazy  (Polish: Łazy ) is a village in Karviná District, Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. It was a separate municipality but became administratively a part of Orlová in 1946. It has a population of 274.

The name is cultural in origin and in Polish denotes an arable area obtained by slash-and-burn technique.

History

The settlement was first mentioned in a Latin document of Diocese of Wrocław called Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis from around 1305 as item in Lazy villa Paczconis. It meant that the village was in the process of location (the size of land to pay a tithe from was not yet precise). The village could have been founded by Benedictine monks from an Orlová abbey and also it could a part of a larger settlement campaign taking place in the late 13th century on the territory of what would later be known as Upper Silesia.

Politically the village belonged initially to the Duchy of Teschen, formed in 1290 in the process of feudal fragmentation of Poland and was ruled by a local branch of Silesian Piast dynasty. In 1327 the duchy became a fee of the Kingdom of Bohemia, which after 1526 became part of the Habsburg Monarchy.

Suede (singer)

Suede is an American pop, cabaret and jazz singer. She was born in Nyack, New York and went to high school in Severna Park, Maryland. She began playing music in high school, getting bar gigs before she even graduated. She lived in Baltimore for the majority of the 1980s and became a fixture at many local clubs. Suede's popularity steadily increased and she began playing sold-out shows in some of the US's most respected concert halls.

She is best known for successfully suing the British band Suede for the rights to the name, meaning that the band's subsequent albums were released in the US under the name "The London Suede".

In addition to being a vocalist, Suede plays many instruments; trumpet, piano, and guitar. She currently lives in Cape Cod.

Suede toured briefly with The Flirtations and was on their album, Three.
