The murder of Laurie Show occurred on December 21, 1991. Show was a 16-year-old sophomore student at Conestoga Valley High School. Show's body was discovered in her Lancaster, Pennsylvania home on December 21, 1991 by her mother Hazel Show, with Show's throat cut.
Classmates Lisa Michelle Lambert, Tabitha Buck, and Lawrence "Butch" Yunkin were charged with her murder.
Lambert initially began harassing Show in 1991 after learning that Show briefly dated Yunkin over the summer. Lambert and Yunkin had had a previous relationship with each other, but had reportedly not been dating during the time Yunkin was dating Show. Show and Yunkin had gone on a few dates, with Show reporting to her mother that Yunkin had date raped her. Shortly after his final date with Show, Yunkin resumed dating Lambert, who was pregnant with his child. Reported to be "obsessively jealous" of Show, Lambert proceeded to harass Show in various ways such as appearing at Show's job and verbally assaulting her. Witnesses reported that Lambert had expressed an intent to "scare Laurie, then hurt her, then slit her throat".

Royden Dickey Lipscomb (born September 21, 1936), known professionally as Dickey Lee (sometimes misspelled Dickie Lee or Dicky Lee), is an American pop/country singer and songwriter, best known for the 1960s teenage tragedy songs "Patches" and "Laurie (Strange Things Happen)."
Lee made his first recordings in his hometown of Memphis for Tampa Records and Sun Records in 1957–58. He achieved his first chart success in 1962, when his composition "She Thinks I Still Care" was a hit for George Jones (covered by Elvis Presley, Connie Francis, Leon Russell and later Anne Murray as "He Thinks I Still Care"). Later that year, "Patches," written by Barry Mann and Larry Kobler and recorded by Lee for Smash Records, rose to No. 6. The song tells in waltz-time the story of teenage lovers of different social classes whose parents forbid their love. The girl drowns herself in the "dirty old river." The singer concludes: "It may not be right, but I'll join you tonight/ Patches I'm coming to you." Because of the teen suicide theme, the song was banned by a number of radio stations. However, it sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc.
Laurie is an EP by singer-songwriter Daniel Johnston. It was his second release with Seminal Twang in the United Kingdom.
Johnston was gaining popularity at the time and was soon to be picked up by his first major label, Atlantic Records, for the 1994 album Fun. Meanwhile, he had various minor releases, including an earlier EP released by Seminal Twang called Big Big World.
Matt Hartenbach, who wrote the track "Whiz Kid", approached Johnston to record the vocals.

Show is a bi-monthly magazine, founded and published by Sean Cummings in 2005. Show is geared toward young urban men and showcases glamour photography of female pin-up models from around the world. Sean Cummings was previously the editorial director of Smooth magazine and both the creator and editorial director of Smooth Girl magazine (2002–2005).
Following the success of Show, Cummings published a spin-off magazine, Showcase, which features extensive photo shoots of usually one or two of the most popular pin-up models frequently featured in Show. Cummings also produces another spin-off magazine, Black Lingerie, which features photo shoots of several models in various black lingerie ensembles, usually to a white background. Also in the Show magazine lineup is The Art of Sexy, a fully nude pictorial issue, ShowGirlz Latina, which features a group of today's hottest women of the Hispanic modeling scene, and SHOWPiece magazine, which features a single frequented model in the Show catalog, modeled in an exotic location.
Show is a live album by English alternative rock band The Cure, released in 1993 and recorded live over two nights at The Palace of Auburn Hills, Auburn Hills, Michigan (a suburb of Detroit) in 1992, during the successful Wish tour. Show was also released as a concert video.
This live album was released along with Paris, which was recorded in Paris, France. Show leaned somewhat more towards the band's poppier and more recent material such as "Just Like Heaven", "Pictures of You" and "Friday I'm in Love" while Paris skewed towards their older cult-classics.
Show is a double-CD release in most cases. There are various versions with differing track listing. The US version is the only one-disc edition. The songs which did not fit onto the US disc ("Fascination Street", "The Walk" and "Let's Go to Bed") were released as the EP Sideshow. The CD-i version contains extra tracks.
I see the weakness in your knees
Feel the lust down in your jeans
A fever's coming over me
Need someone to set me free
Need someone to set me free
I say exactly what I mean
But words are never what they seem
I'll make you rock and then you'll roll
Bring a little funk and soul
Said I'll bring a little funk and soul
I'll love you a little bit harder
I'll make you beg for more
I'll take you a little bit higher
Baby I love you, I want you, I need you
I gotta, gotta have it
So if I haven't made it clear
I'll scream your name for all to hear
I'll touch your skin and make you sweat
I'm one mistake you won't regret
Said I'm one mistake you won't regret so
I'll love you a little bit harder
I'll make you beg for more
I'll take you a little bit higher
Baby I love you, I want you, I need you
Baby I love you, I want you, I need you
I gotta, gotta have it
I see the weakness in your knees
Feel the lust down in your jeans
A fever's coming over me
You gotta set me
You gotta set me
You gotta set me
Gotta set me
Gotta set me
I'll love you a little bit harder
I'll make you beg for more
I'll take you a little bit higher
Baby I love you, I want you, I need you
I love you, I want you, I need you
