Lance Hoyt

Lance Hoyt (born February 28, 1977) is an American professional wrestler, currently signed to New Japan Pro Wrestling as Lance Archer, where he teams with Davey Boy Smith Jr. as part of the reigning GHC Tag Team Championship team known as Killer Elite Squad (K.E.S.). He also works for Global Force Wrestling under his real name.

He is also known for his work in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, where he wrestled as Dallas and under his real name. He is a three-time two-time NWA World Tag Team Champion (twice with Kid Kash while the title was under the TNA banner and once with David Hart Smith Jr.). He also worked in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) under the ring name Vance Archer.

Lance!

Lance! is a daily sports newspapers in Brazil, and its first edition was published in 1997. Its headquarters are located in Rio de Janeiro, and they print regional versions for some of the other Brazilian states.

Its tabloid format as well as its news design quickly became a success, and Lance! is also popular among Brazilian TV and radio sports journalists and reporters.

Its 3000th edition was published on January 29, 2006. There are Lance! offices in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Belo Horizonte, and they also publish regional versions in Curitiba and Manaus.

Lance! also issues a weekly magazine called Lance! A+; its first edition was published in 2000.

The newspaper awards the winner of the first turn of the Série A with the Troféu Osmar Santos, while the second turn winner is awarded with the Troféu João Saldanha.

Lance

The lance was a pole weapon or spear designed to be used by a mounted warrior or cavalry soldier (lancer). During the periods of Classical and Medieval warfare it evolved into being the leading weapon in cavalry charges, and was unsuited for throwing or for repeated thrusting, unlike similar weapons of the spear/javelin/pike family typically used by infantry. Lances were often equipped with a vamplate – a small circular plate to prevent the hand sliding up the shaft upon impact. Though best known as a military and sporting weapon carried by European knights, the use of lances was widespread throughout Asia, the Middle East and North Africa wherever suitable mounts were available. As a secondary weapon, lancers of the Medieval period also bore swords or maces for hand-to-hand combat, since the lance was often a one-use-per-engagement weapon; assuming the lance survived the initial impact intact, it was (depending on the lance) usually too long, heavy and slow to be effectively used against opponents in a melee.

Magog (comics)

Magog is a fictional character in the comic books published by DC Comics. He first appeared in Kingdom Come #1 (May 1996), and was created by Mark Waid and Alex Ross. In 2009, Magog was ranked as IGN's 75th Greatest Comic Book Villain of All Time.

Publication history

Creation and development

Magog debuted in the first issue of the Elseworlds mini-series Kingdom Come in May 1996. Within this possible future, he represents the violent, modern-style heroes who come into conflict with the classic, moralistic heroes of the past.

Kingdom Come is a graphic novel rife with biblical references. Gog and Magog are both biblical characters from the Book of Genesis, the Book of Ezekiel, and the Book of Revelation as well as names that appear in a variety of subsequent legends. In addition to taking his name from the Old Testament, Magog represents the Golden calf, that is, a false idol.

The character's appearance was based on that of the Marvel Comics character Cable. Magog's character design was based on superhero design trends of the time, especially Cable, and Cable's creator Rob Liefeld himself. Alex Ross stated, "As I remember, Mark originally told me, 'Make him look like everything we hate in modern superhero design.'" Archer (season 2)

The second season of the animated television series, Archer originally aired in the United States on the cable network FX. This season started on January 27, 2011, with "Swiss Miss" and ended with "Double Trouble" on April 21, 2011, with a total of thirteen episodes.
