Technology demonstration

A technology demonstration or Demonstrator model is a prototype, rough example or an otherwise incomplete version of a conceivable product or future system, put together as proof of concept with the primary purpose of showcasing the possible applications, feasibility, performance and method of an idea for a new technology. They can be used as demonstrations to the investors, partners, journalists or even to potential customers in order to convince them of the viability of the chosen approach, or to test them on ordinary users.

Computer technology demonstrations should not be confused with demoscene-based demos, which, although often demonstrating new software techniques, are regarded as a stand-alone form of computer art.

Technology demonstrations are often used in the computer industry, emerging as an important tool in response to short development cycles, in both software and hardware development.

The Flatliners

The Flatliners are a punk rock band from Richmond Hill and Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Since their formation in 2002, The Flatliners have been a growing influence in the Toronto punk/ska movement as well as other areas of the Greater Toronto Area. They are currently signed to Fat Wreck Chords and New Damage Records (Canada). As well, they won the inaugural, annual "Best Band Ever" award given by the Edmonton Vinyl Blog DigitalIsDead. The small publication has also named their third LP, "Cavalcade" the front runner for their annual "Record Of The Year" award for 2010. Their album Dead Language was nominated for a 2014 Juno Award in the category of Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year."

Latsch (Italian: Laces) is a comune (municipality) in the province of South Tyrol in northern Italy, located about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northwest of the city of Bolzano.

Geography

As of 30 November 2010, it had a population of 5,156 and an area of 78.8 square kilometres (30.4 sq mi).

Latsch (Laces) borders the following municipalities: Kastelbell-Tschars, Martell, Schnals, Schlanders, and Ulten.

Coat-of-arms

The emblem represents a vert centered branch, with three roses of gules and or petal in the center. It is the sign of the Lords of Annenberg owners, from 1312 to 1695, of the castle. The coat of arms was granted in 1930.

Jessica Charlotte Poland

Jessica Charlotte Poland (born January 15, 1988) is an American singer-songwriter, better known by her former stage name Charlotte Sometimes. Her debut album Waves and the Both of Us was released on May 6, 2008. She grew up in Wall Township, New Jersey and started playing guitar and writing songs at the age of 14. She has released one full-length album and five EPs. In 2014, Poland retired her stage name and started a new project called LACES.

Biography

Poland was adopted by her parents, Hartson and Tracy Poland, as a baby. She was introduced to her birth mother at age 13.

At age 14, Poland was diagnosed with condylar resorption, a rare disease causing her jaw to essentially break apart. Her condition impaired her ability to sing. By age 16, she had undergone surgery by having two ribs extracted to "rebuild her face." She continues to have injections to treat her jaw.

Poland got her first stage name from the children’s book, Charlotte Sometimes, written in 1969 by Penelope Farmer, about a boarding school student who finds herself transported more than 40 years into the past, into the place of another girl.

The Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies is a public university preparatory secondary school located on 18th Street between La Cienega Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in the Faircrest Heights district of Los Angeles, California, on the former site of Louis Pasteur Middle School.

LACES, which serves grades 6 through 12, is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The current principal of LACES is Harold Boger. LACES is a magnet school (the first in LAUSD), and enrolls students from the entire district (selected by a weighted lottery process), many of them coming to school by bus. Students are encouraged to take multiple Advanced Placement Courses. The school has one of the highest API index ratings in LAUSD. In 1998, Los Angeles magazine described LACES as "the patriarch of all LAUSD magnets" with "a waiting list stretching into infinity."

Pog (drink)

POG is a tropical juice drink created in 1971 by a food product consultant named Mary Soon who worked for Haleakala Dairy on Maui, Hawaii. It consists of a blend of juices from passionfruit, orange, and guava (hence POG).

POG is produced by Meadow Gold Dairy, a subsidiary of Dean Foods.

Milkcaps

The caps to milk bottles inspired the fad game "Pogs" (or "Milkcaps"), which became popular during the early-to-mid-1990s. The game of pogs possibly originated in Maui, Hawaii in the 1920s or 1930s. Contrary to popular belief, POG was never sold in glass bottles with cardboard caps. By the time POG was sold, glass bottles with caps were obsolete. The connection between POG juice and milkcaps can be credited to Charlie Nalepa. He was hired by Haleakala Dairy as a marketing and promotions manager. Because there was still a demand for the cardboard discs, he ordered milkcaps imprinted with the trademark POG to give away as a promotional item. The 1990s craze using these milk caps was initiated by Blossom Galbiso, a teacher in Hawaii in 1991. She started using the milkcaps in her classroom, and told her students about an old game she used to play, by flipping milkcaps to be the first one to get the cream off the bottom. Her students began flipping the milkcaps, and the resurgence of the game of pogs began.
