Luis Miguel

Luis Miguel Gallego Basteri (April 19, 1970), known professionally as Luis Miguel, is a Mexican singer and an icon in Latin America, he is often referred to as El Sol de México. He is one of the most successful artists in Latin American history, having successfully performed in a wide range of musical styles, including pop, ballads, boleros and mariachi. To date, he has sold over 100 million records worldwide.

Latin pop music, along with his personal life and showmanship on stage, has made Luis Miguel an icon for nearly his entire career, which started in Mexico in 1981. Having won his first Grammy Award at the age of fourteen for his duet "Me Gustas Tal Como Eres" with Sheena Easton, he is the third youngest act in music history to receive this accolade. In 1991, the RIAA recognized the high sales for his 1991 album Romance, itself being the best-selling music album in Mexico, and one of the best-selling Spanish language albums of all time. He is the only Latin artist to have been awarded two Platinum certified Spanish-language albums in the United States (Romance and Segundo Romance). His most recent album, Luis Miguel, was released in 2010 and achieved gold and platinum certifications in four countries within three days of its release.

    Luis Miguel (album)

    Luis Miguel is the self-titled nineteenth studio album released worldwide by Mexican pop singer Luis Miguel on September 14, 2010. This album celebrates the singer's 30 years in music.

    Album history

    This is the first studio album of the artist since Cómplices, and the first time that Luis Miguel releases two studio albums in a row since 1990. There were rumours of the possible title of this album since March, but neither the name or the new album were confirmed by the artist of by Warner Music. But, on July 26, there were reports that mentioned that the album would be released between August and September, and that the title of the album and the main single would be Labios de Miel. The artist's webpage confirmed the main single, and set its release for August 3, with its videoclip set to be released on late August. Also, confirmed that the album would be released on September 14. The cover and the title of the album were not revealed.

    The single Labios de Miel manage to debut at #1 on most of the Mexican charts, and to be one of the most downloaded songs in iTunes Music Store.

    Barca (ancient city)

    Barca, also called Barce) (Greek: Βάρκη, Arabic: برقة‎, Berber: Berqa) is an Ancient city and former bishopric, which survives in both Latin Catholic and Orthodox titular see.

    History

    Antiquity

    Barca an ancient Greek colony and later a Roman and a Byzantine city in North Africa. It was in the coastal area of what is today Libya. As a Greek city, it was part of the Cyrenaican Pentapolis along with the city of Cyrene itself.

    According to most archeologists, it was situated at Marj, but according to Alexander Graham it was at Tolmeita (Ptolemais). No remains of the ancient settlement are visible at Marj, but some of the finds made there during the Italian colonial dominance of Libya (1913–41) are on display in the museum at Tolmeita.

    The city's name, Arabized as Barqah, came to refer to the former state and province of Cyrenaica.

    Since the Arab conquest

    Barce was part of the Exarchate of Africa until it was conquered by the Arabs in 643–644 during the Islamic conquest of North Africa. It originally served as the capital of the Barqah province of the Caliphate. When the Ottoman Turks conquered the region in 1521, they used the Turkish form "Barka" for the province, but did not retain the city's status as its capital.
