Almaș

Almaș (Hungarian: Háromalmás) is a commune in Arad County, Romania. Situated in the Gurahonț Basin, in the left valley of the Crişul Alb River, the commune is composed of four villages: Almaș (situated at 97 km (60 mi) from Arad), Cil (Alcsil), Joia Mare (Kakaró) and Rădești (Bozósd). Its total administrative territory is 8127 ha.

Population

According to the last census the population of the commune counts 3009 inhabitants. From an ethnic point of view, it has the following structure: 96.3% are Romanians, 0.2% Hungarians, 3.4% Roma and 0.1% are of other or undeclared nationalities.

History

The first documentary record of the locality Almaș dates back to 1334.

Cil was mentioned in documents in 1369, Rădeşti in 1441 and Joia Mare in 1439.

The commune's present-day economy can be characterized by a powerful dynamic force with significant developments in all the sectors.

Tourism

There is a monastery dedicated to the Annunciation, and the Rădeștilor Valley.

Alma (play)

Alma is an example of site-specific promenade theatre (or more precisely a "polydrama") created by Israeli writer Joshua Sobol based on the life of Alma Mahler-Werfel. It opened in 1996, under the direction of Austrian Paulus Manker, at a former Jugendstil sanatorium building designed by architect Josef Hoffmann located in Purkersdorf near Vienna; and subsequently toured to locations in Venice, Lisbon, Los Angeles, Petronell, Berlin, Semmering, Jerusalem, and Prague.

Protagonist Alma Mahler-Werfel was initmately connected to an astonishing list of the famous creative spirits of the 20th century. Not only was she married sequentially to composer Gustav Mahler, architect Walter Gropius, and poet Franz Werfel (“The Song of Bernadette”), but she had also fervent and sometimes notorious love affairs with the painters Oskar Kokoschka, Gustav Klimt, and several others.

The performance is not presented as a conventional theatre piece, but instead takes place throughout an entire building in simultaneous scenes highlighting the events and defining relationships of Alma's tumultuous life, with each playing area fully equipped with appropriate furniture and props.

Pez

Pez (trademarked PEZ in capitals) is the brand name of an Austrian candy and their famous mechanical pocket dispensers. The candy itself takes the shape of pressed, dry, straight-edged, curved-corner blocks (15 mm (5/8 inch) long, 8 mm (5/16 inch) wide, and 5 mm (3/16 inch) high), with Pez dispensers holding 12 Pez pieces.

Pez was originally introduced in Austria, later exported, notably to the U.S., and eventually became available worldwide. The all-uppercase spelling of the logo echoes the trademark's style on the packaging and the dispensers themselves, with the logo drawn in perspective and giving the appearance that the letters are built out of 44 brick-like Pez candies (14 bricks in the P and 15 in each of the E and Z).

Despite the widespread recognition and popularity of the Pez dispenser, the company considers itself to be primarily a candy company, and over 3 billion candy bricks are consumed each year in the U.S. alone. Pez dispensers are part of popular culture in many nations, an example being 'Soul Candy' in Japanese manga series Bleach. Because of the large number of dispenser designs over the years, they are collected by enthusiasts.

Pezë

Pezë (definite Albanian form: Peza is a former municipality in the Tirana County, central Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became a subdivision of the municipality Tirana. The population at the 2011 census was 6,272. Peza was the headquarters of the National Liberation Movement of Albania.

Prezi

Prezi is a cloud-based presentation software based on a software as a service model. The product employs a zooming user interface (ZUI), which allows users to zoom in and out of their presentation media, and allows users to display and navigate through information within a 2.5D or parallax 3D space on the Z-axis. Prezi was officially established in 2009 by co-founders Adam Somlai-Fischer, Peter Halacsy and Peter Arvai.

History

Prezi (or Prezi.com) was created by the support of Kitchen Budapest and Magyar Telekom in 2008 in order to replace ordinary slide-based presentations. Today the project is assisted by Sunstone Capital. The actual development was done by Zui Labs led by its three Hungarian founders Péter Árvai, Szabolcs Somlai-Fischer prezi is the Hungarian short form of presentation.

Prezi ZUI

The Prezi online and offline ZUI editors employ a common tool palette, allowing users to pan and zoom, and to size, rotate, or edit an object. The user places objects on a canvas and navigates between videos, images, texts and other presentation media. Frames allow grouping of presentation media together as a single presentation object. Paths are navigational sequences that connect presentation objects for the purposes of structuring a linear presentation.

Ana (film)

Ana is a 1982 Portuguese independent docufictional and ethnofictional feature film, written, directed and edited by António Reis and Margarida Cordeiro. It was filmed in Trás-os-Montes like António Reis' previous film, Trás-os-Montes. The film was selected as the Portuguese entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 58th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee.

Reception

Ana was present at film festivals like the Venice Film Festival, the Berlin Film Festival, Rotterdam Film Festival, Hong Kong International Film Festival or the São Paulo International Film Festival.

The film was in exebition in Paris for three months.

In 2011, Ana was screened at the Jeonju International Film Festival, marking the beginning of the international rediscover of the work of António Reis and Margarida Cordeiro. In 2012, the film was screened in the United States at the Harvard Film Archive, the Anthology Film Archives, at the UCLA Film and Television Archives and at the Pacific Film Archive as part of The School of Reis program.
