Lynx Red Line

The Red Line is a planned commuter rail extension for the LYNX network in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Red Line, or North Corridor, would serve as a commuter rail line between Mount Mourne in southern Iredell County and the proposed Gateway Station in Uptown Charlotte. It would primarily serve the towns of Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson in northern Mecklenburg County.

It is proposed to follow a northerly path along the existing Norfolk Southern O Line right-of-way, roughly paralleling North Graham Street and North Carolina Highway 115, as it extends through north Mecklenburg County. It is estimated to be 25 miles (40 km) in length. Originally, it was thought to cost $261 million to complete the first phase by 2012 and an additional $112 million to complete phase two by 2019; the line would contain 1,200 parking spaces and 10 stations along the corridor. However, several issues have arisen that have increased the project's price tag, and it currently has no scheduled construction or operations start date.

Purple Line (Dubai Metro)

The Purple Line is a proposed line of the Dubai Metro network in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The purple line will run between Dubai International Airport to Al Maktoum International Airport, along Al Khail Road. Announced in 2007, construction of the line has not started, and news reports in July 2011 claimed that the line faces cancellation.

It will have about eight stations along its route, three with check-in facilities. However The Dubai Airports claimed that this was unfeasible as it did not pass through many localities. However they suggested opting for a "central terminal" similar to ones in the US where trains leave from inside the airport to the other airport with trains also leaving to the city. The RTA have taken this into consideration.

The Purple line will be 49 kilometres (30 mi) long and trains on this line will travel at an average speed of 110 kilometres per hour (68 mph).

Taoyuan International Airport MRT

The Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System, commonly known as the Taoyuan International Airport MRT, is a rapid transit system planned to connect Taipei City and Taipei Taoyuan International Airport, before linking up with the Taoyuan MRT to THSR Taoyuan Station and onwards to Zhongli. Construction began in 2006. Plagued by multiple delays, the system is currently scheduled to begin service in 2016. Construction is being overseen by the Bureau of High Speed Rail of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, which oversees the construction of the Taiwan High Speed Rail as well as regional rapid transit systems (except the Taipei Metro and Kaohsiung MRT) in Taiwan.

Overview

The planned route starts from Terminal II of Taoyuan International Airport and extends eastward, passing through Luzhu, Linkou, Guishan, Xinzhuang, Sanchong, and finally terminating in Taipei City. From the airport, it will also extend southward passing by THSR Taoyuan Station before terminating in Zhongli. The route will be 51.03 km (31.71 mi)-long with 7 underground stations, 15 elevated stations, and two maintenance depots (Chingpu and Lujhu). Elevated track makes up 40.11 km (24.92 mi) of the total route length. The total budget for the project is NT$93.6 billion. As of late September 2012, the project was 82.64% complete. Upon completion, the line is expected to serve over 143,000 passengers per day. The line will have a maximum operational speed of 100 km/h (62 mph).
