Kyle Eugene Gann (born November 21, 1955) is an American professor of music, critic and composer born in Dallas, Texas, who has worked primarily in the New York City area. As a music critic for The Village Voice (from November 1986 to December 2005) and other publications, he has supported progressive music, including such Downtown movements as postminimalism and totalism.
Gann's work as a composer can be classified generally into three categories:
Most of his music has expressed the concept of repeating loops, ostinatos, or isorhythms of different lengths going out of phase with each other; the idea leads to simultaneous layers of different, mutually prime tempo relationships in his Disklavier and electronic works, and is used in a less obvious structural way in his live-ensemble music. This concept can be traced back to suggestions in the rhythmic chapter of Henry Cowell's book New Musical Resources. Gann has said that he has been inspired his studies of astrology, into which he was drawn by the writings of composer/astrologer Dane Rudhyar.
This is the way, That i state my independence, That i'm no longer connected to your memory. This is the day that i'm making
my defection, gotta claim back the affection that you stole from me. I used to hear your music so loud But its so low.
You're just another face in the crowd, I'm letting you know.
No more sad songs, I'm letting you go now, Switched off switched on, I'm letting you know, you turned out the light. I'm
gonna be alright when I... turn the radio on. No more sad songs.
These are the words to descibe all your offences. You said love in the past tense and then you let it go. Haven't you
heard, Your are no longer respected, you are formally rejected from the one you hurt. I used to have the longing to hear
what was in your heart, But now it seems i'm over the fear of this falling apart.
No more sad songs. I used to have the longing to hear what was in your heart, but now it seems i'm over the fear of this
falling apart.
No more sad songs, I'm letting it go now, Switched off switched on, I'm letting you know. No more sad songs, I'm letting it
go now, Switched off switched on, I'm letting you know. you turned out the light. I'm gonna be alright without... Turn the
radio off. No more sad songs. No more sad songs.
