Kushtia (Bengali: কুষ্টিয়া জেলা, Kushtia Jela also Kushtia Zila) is a district in the Khulna administrative division of western Bangladesh. Kushtia has existed as a separate district since the partition of India. Prior to that, Kushtia was a part of Nadia District under Bengal Province of British India. Kushtia was home of many famous people, especially authors and poets. Present day Kushtia is known for the Islamic University, Shilaidaha Kuthibari and Lalon's shrine.
The Shahi Mosque in Kushtia bears the sign of rich cultural heritage of the region from the Mughal period. Kushtia is the birthplace of many historical figures including Mir Mosharraf Hossain (1847–1912), Bagha Jatin (1879–1915) and Lalon Fakir (1774–1890). Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore lived a part of his life at Shelaidaha in this district and created some of his memorable poems while living there. However, during the British rule Kushtia was not a separate district – it was a part of the Nadia district (now in West Bengal). A municipality was established in Kushtia in 1869. The composer and Singer S I Tutul was born in Kushtia.
Broken homes as far as the eye can see.
Bird's eye view: An ocean surrounded by
cubicles and fast food restaurants with nothing
but standard utility vehicles and smog in-between.
No one knows who is in control but underneath
them lies a bottomless pit. Everyone clings to
the sides and they use one another to reach the
crown of it. It's getting oh so dark in here now.
He's grabbing at my ankles. I'm grabbing at his.
Don't let go! Until all that's left of dreams of Venus.
The appendix of a system that doesn't need us.
One machine tells the other not to feed us.
They only want more. We only want more.
We're all getting nowhere confused.
Which way is up? Which way is down? I'm falling down.
I wonder which moment I decided to care?
Decided to wear the burdens of thousands of years.
We all live life like the sun and the moon
fucking in the afternoon.
The light it doesn't get through but it gets by.
One machine tells the other not to feed them.
They only want more. We only want more. Just let go.
