Kunal Kapoor

Kunal Kapoor (born in Mumbai, India) is an Indian people actor who appears in Hindi cinema.

Early life

Kapoor was born in Mumbai to a Punjabi family whose origins are in Amritsar. In February 2015, he married Naina Bachchan, a niece of Amitabh Bachchan, at a private family ceremony in the Seychelles.

Career

Kapoor trained for an acting career under Barry John, and became a part of Motley, a theatre group run by Naseerudin Shah. He began his career as an assistant director of Aks, which starred Manoj Bajpayee and in which Amitabh Bachchan played a major character role, but eventually moved on to be a movie actor.

Kapoor made his movie debut as the male lead opposite Tabu in Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities (2006) which was helmed by legendary painter MF Hussain. His next film was the 'groundbreaking' Aamir Khan starrer Rang De Basanti (2006), which made him an overnight heartthrob, and Kapoor received a nomination in the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award category (2006). The film was successful both critically and commercially, and it was nominated in the Best Foreign Film category at the 2007 BAFTA Awards.

Kunal Kapoor is an Indian film actor.

Kapoor made his debut with the 1972 English-language film Siddhartha. He then appeared in Shyam Benegal's 1978 film Junoon. In 1981 he appeared in his first mainstream Bollywood film titled Ahista Ahista opposite Padmini Kolhapure. In 1982 he appeared in Vijeta. After that he appeared in the art films Utsav (1984) and Trikal (1985).Trikal was his last film appearance.

In 1987, Kapoor set up his own company, Adfilm-Valas, and started producing and directing television commercials. Adfilm Valas has also line-produced for many international feature films and ad films shot in India. Notably, the credit sequence of the film City of Joy, and the French films Le Cactus (2005) and Fire in Paradise.

In 2015 he returned to films after 30 years, appearing in Singh is Bling as Amy Jackson's father.
