KUGB-CD

KUGB-CD is a low-power Class A television station in the Houston area, owned by OTA Broadcasting, LLC, a company controlled by Michael Dell's MSD Capital. It broadcasts in digital on UHF channel 28. The station mainly broadcasts religious programming.

History

The station began in 1988 as K56DP on channel 56, as a translator of KUBE-TV, then known as KLTJ. The call sign was changed to KHMV-LP on September 1, 1995.

KHMV moved to channel 28 around 2000.

The station's call sign was changed to KHMV-CA on March 6, 2006.

Due to Pappas Telecasting's continuing financial problems, KHMV was taken off the air November 2, 2007, and the station remained silent until after it was sold to Uniglobe Central America Network in March 2010. The new owners adopted the call sign KUGB-CA on April 2, 2010. Under Uniglobe's ownership, the station broadcast programming from Central America, notably El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica and Guatemala.

On January 4, 2011, the station was sold to Thomas Abraham. The FCC approved that transaction on February 18, 2011.

Karate Union of Great Britain

The Karate Union of Great Britain, or KUGB is an association of Shotokan Karate clubs and Karateka operating across Great Britain, with some oversea affiliations. The 1960s saw a growth in the popularity of Karate, and the KUGB was founded in 1966 to be a democratic, not-for-profit organisation, and was the first single style organisation within the UK. Many other British Shotokan Karate organisations have since formed after splitting from the KUGB. The KUGB is currently affiliated to the European Shotokan Karate Association (ESKA) and the World Shotokan Karate Association (WSKA)

The KUGB operated as the British arm of the JKA until the death of chief instructor Keinosuke Enoeda Sensei in 2003. Subsequently, a disagreement regarding his successor resulted in the KUGB withdrawing from the JKA, with Sensei Andy Sherry being appointed Chief Instructor.

The KUGB was amongst the karate organisations which joined Karate England, the national governing body set up by the British Sports Council to regulate competitive (WKF) karate (the style recognised by the International Olympic Committee as a candidate for Olympic status).
