Krishnamurti is a South Indian name. It has several spelling variants.
The following is a non-exhaustive list. Some spellings separate the name elements (see § Etymology and usage), e.g. Krishna Murti.
It derives from Krishna, one of the Hindu deities, and from the Sanskrit term murti. The main dictionary meaning of murti (or murthy) is "form"; therefore, the name translates as "in the form (or image) of Krishna". In most cases it is a given name but it may also be a family name, or it may have been westernized into a surname.
Non-Indian nationality is noted when known.
