Kovačić

Kovačić, alternatively spelled Kovačič in Slovene, Kovacsics in Hungarian, or transliterated as Kovacic/Kovachich in English, is the most common surname in Croatia, Slovenia, as well as Hungary and Serbia. Etymologically it is a patronymic derivative of the surname Kovač, which is a Slavic cognate of the English surname Smith, and as such is closely related to the similar surname Kovačević.

In Croatia the form "Kovačić" is more common than Kovač, whereas in Slovenia it is the other way around. There are around 12,000 people with this surname in Croatia, making it the 7th most common in the country. In Slovenia "Kovačič" is the 4th most common surname and there are some 5,600 people with the surname plus some 300 with the form Kovačić (mostly Croats of Slovenia).

    Kuvehi (Persian: كووه اي, also Romanized as Kūveh’ī; also known as Kovā’ī, Kovāy, Kowey, Kūbeh’ī, Kūveh, and Kūve’ī) is a village in Howmeh Rural District, in the Central District of Qeshm County, Hormozgan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 3,422, in 716 families.
