Kondotty

Kondotty (Malayalam: കൊണ്ടോട്ടി) is a revenue village and municipality, and is also a developing town in the Malappuram district, state of Kerala, India which is located near Calicut International Airport, 24 km from Malappuram. Kondotty Taluk, with Kondotty as its headquarters, is declared as the seventh taluk in Malappuram district by chief minister Oommen Chandy on 23 December 2013.

Kondotty is famous for the Nercha (Malayalam for 'offering') in the Pazhayangadi Mosque. Kondotty is the birthplace of the Mappila poet, Moyinkutty Vaidyar, where there is a memorial dedicated to him. He popularised Mappilapattu (Mappila songs) by his poems on secular and romantic themes.

History

The history of Kondotty is connected with that of the 18th century Kondotty Thangals, the Sufi exponents. Tipu Sultan of Mysore brought the first Thangal Muhammad Shah, to make the Mappilas allies. The Thangal first resided at Areekode and later settled in Kondotty. When the British arrived, putting an end to the reign of Tipu Sultan, the Thangal realigned with the British. During the 1921 upsurge, the Mappila mob attacked the house of the seventh Thangal, Nasiruddin Shah.

Best Is Yet To Come

by: Conway Twitty

I watched the shadow of her body on the wall
As she slowly moved across the room.
Anticipatin' Lord, I can't stand the waitin'
As I looked through the gown she slipped into.
I hear my heart beating out of time
As I feel her body move so close to mine
With just one touch my soul surrenders
And once again she takes control of me.
But the best is yet to come
Lord, she's only just begun
When we love she leaves nothing undone
It just gets better everytime
And the best is yet to come.
I feel her breathin' gently on my shoulder
Lying here in loves sweet after glow
But I still feel the fire
'Cause tonight she took me higher
Than she had ever takin' me before.
Ah, but I know the best is yet to come
Lord, she's only just begun
When we love she leaves nothing undone
It just gets better everytime
And the best is yet to come.
Yeah, the best is yet to come
Lord, she's only just begun
When we love she leaves nothing undone
It just gets better everytime
