Ninet Tayeb

Ninet Tayeb, aka Ninet (born October 21, 1983, in Israel) is an Israeli musician, singer-song writer, composer, D.J, and an actress.

She is considered to be the most famous person in the Israeli entertainment business (a title she's held for almost a decade now), and was labeled "one of the hottest new artists to break into the United States."

Ninet has released four successful albums in Israel (one of them in English), and has twice won Israel's Favorite Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards. She has also worked with producer Mike Crossey (who produced her third album, Sympathetic Nervous System), and artists such as Steven Wilson (Ninet performs on his solo albums, Hand. Cannot. Erase. and 4 ½), Gary Lucas, Cyndi Lauper, The Jesus and Mary Chain, and The Dead Daisies.

Alongside her musical career, Ninet enjoyed a successful acting career, performing both in movies and the theatre. She currently lives in Tel Aviv and is married to music producer and guitarist Yossi Mizrachi.

After achieving almost everything that her local scene can offer, Ninet has set her sights on the international stage, looking to impact her music to larger audiences worldwide. Nowadays, with multiple projects under her belt, she is "poised to have a major breakthrough in the U.S with her American debut album coming out the latter part of 2016."

Svika Pick

Henrik Zvi "Svika" Pick (born 3 October 1949; akas: Tzvika Pik, Tsvika Pick, Zwika Pick) (Hebrew: צביקה פיק‎) is an Israeli pop singer and composer.

Biography

Henrik Zvi Pick was born in Wrocław, Poland. He studied music at the Conservatory of Ramat Gan and started to perform at age 15. Pick was married to Israeli songwriter Mirit Shem-Or. Shem-Or wrote the lyrics for many of Pick's hits, including Mary Lou, which was about herself. They are now divorced but the couple still collaborates artistically. They have three children. Two of Pick's daughters have performed duos as the Pick Sisters.

Music career

Pick was one of Israel's leading pop singers in the 1970s, during which he was voted "Israeli male singer of the Year." He played a lead part in the Hebrew version of the musical Hair in the early 1970s.

In 1998 Pick wrote the song Diva with lyricist Yoav Ginai and performed by Dana International, which won the Eurovision Song Contest. He also wrote songs for several other Eurovision contestants. In 2002 he reunited with Ginai to write the Light a Candle for Sarit Hadad, who represented Israel in Eurovision 2002. That year, Habima Theater staged a musical called Mary Lou based on Pick's old hits. In 2009 this musical was made into the television series Tamid oto halom or Mary Lou, directed by Eytan Fox.

Kokhav Nolad

Kokhav Nolad (Hebrew: כוכב נולד‎) (meaning A Star Is Born) is an Israeli reality television show searching for talented new vocalists, based on the British Pop Idol model. Since its debut on Israeli Channel 2 in 2003, Kokhav Nolad has achieved great popularity and turned out many new musical stars. The show is hosted by Zvika Hadar.

Summary

Format

The format of Kokhav Nolad is similar to Pop Idol and its spinoffs, like American Idol, but it is independently produced and not a licensed adaptation. The contest is open to aspiring singers, most of them in their late teens and early 20s, who appear before a panel of judges, who evaluate their performances. The audience is then asked to vote for their favorite singer. In every round, whoever gets the lowest amount of votes leaves the competition until one is left, who is declared the winner. Kokhav Nolad was preceded by another program called Lo Nafsik Lashir, in which the participants competed in their knowledge of Hebrew songs, not on the quality of their singing.

Zvika Hadar

Zvika Hadar (Hebrew: צביקה הדר‎; born 7 April 1966) is an Israeli actor, comedian and television host.

Biography

Zvi (Zvika) Fruchter (later Hadar) was born in Beersheba, Israel, to Romanian Jewish family. As a child, he studied piano. Early in his career, he composed numbers for musicals.

Hadar first appeared on television as Jojo Khalastra on the satiric show Ha-Comedy Store. He was the host of Kokhav Nolad, the Israeli version of Idol for ten seasons. He has also acted in a number of Israeli movies including starring in Afula Express.

In September 2012, Hadar suffered cardiac arrest upon arriving at clinic in Tel Aviv for a checkup. The cardiologist performed CPR and revived him. He was transferred taken to Ichilov Hospital and was released after cardiac catheterization.

Awards and recognition

In 1999, he was nominated for Best Actor award at the Awards of the Israeli Film Academy for his role in Afula Express.
