Kodambakkam is a residential neighbourhood in the city of Chennai in Tamil Nadu, India. It is famed as the centre of the Tamil film industry, known as Kollywood. The neighbourhood is served by Kodambakkam railway station of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network.
Kodambakkam is situated at 13.0481 N latitude and 80.2214 E longitude. It is one of the westerly located neighbourhoods of Chennai city. It is bounded by the neighbourhoods of Nungambakkam to the east and West Mambalam and T. Nagar to the south. It is bounded by Vadapalani to the west and K. K. Nagar and Ashok Nagar to the south-west.
Kodambakkam is located at a distance of 8 kilometres from Fort St. George.
The neighbourhood of Kodambakkam has a history going back to about 2,000 years. During the period of the Pallavas and the Later Cholas, the western part of Kodambakkam formed a portion of the historically important temple town of Vadapalani. One of the oldest temples in Kodambakkam is the Bharthukesavar temple which is over 500 years old.

The star of the movie Nandha made his debut in the movie Mounam Pesiyadhe as Surya Sivakumar's friend. The movie received many awards including best debut actor for Nandha.
The producers of this movie is V.S Satheesan and K.Seveal. The film became a big hit. He used AAA Productions to help him. The director Jagan had already directed a movie. In addition he directed Joseph Vijay's movie Puthiya Geethai. Unfortunately the earlier film did not do well. But happily the songs were a big hit, and was first in the top ten for 5 weeks.
The team which was used in this movie were people who had been in other big movies. The cinematographer was U.K Senthilkumar who had also been involved in Rajnikanth's movie Arunachalam. Jagan assisted with Cheran's movies such as Vetri Kodi Kattu. The producer K.Seveal had been involved in cinema for 4-year only and this was his third movie. This was V.S Satheesan's first movie in tamil history.
Kodambakkam railway station is a railway station on the Chennai Beach–Chengalpattu section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. It serves the neighbourhood of Kodambakkam, Vadapalani, and Ashok Nagar. The railway station was already in existence when the Madras Egmore-Kanchipuram suburban railway was opened in 1911.
The station lies in the Chennai Beach–Tambaram section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. With the completion of track-lying work in March 1931, which began in 1928, the suburban services were started on 11 May 1931 between Beach and Tambaram, and was electrified on 15 November 1931, with the first MG EMU services running on 1.5 kV DC. The section was converted to 25 kV AC traction on 15 January 1967.
