Kleptomania or klopemania is the inability to refrain from the urge to steal items and is done for reasons other than personal use or financial gain. First described in 1816, kleptomania is classified in psychiatry as an impulse control disorder. Alternatively, some of the main characteristics of the disorder, which consist of recurring intrusion feelings, an inability to resist the urge to steal, and a release of pressure following the theft, suggest that kleptomania could be an obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorder, although this is disputed.
The disorder is frequently under-diagnosed and is regularly associated with other psychiatric disorders, particularly anxiety and eating disorders, and alcohol and substance abuse. Patients with kleptomania are typically treated with therapies in other areas due to the comorbid grievances rather than issues directly related to kleptomania.
Over the last 100 years, a shift from psychotherapeutic to psychopharmacological interventions for kleptomania has occurred. Pharmacological treatments using selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), mood stabilizers and opioid receptor antagonists, and other antidepressants along with cognitive behavioral therapy, have yielded positive results.
Kleptomania is the fourth and final album by English rock band Mansun, released in September 2004 following the band's split. The first CD features the material that was to form the basis the band's next album, which was originally going to be self-titled, and the other 2 CDs feature EP tracks, outtakes and demos.
The band split up while recording songs for the album Kleptomania leaving unfinished tracks that were never released. An extensive explanation of the break-up has never been made public although a press release by Paul Draper stated that the band had simply "grown apart".
EMI had originally not intended to release the material until an online petition, which gained over 4000 signatures, demonstrated that there was demand for it from fans. Draper was not in a positive frame of mind about Mansun at the time but agreed to work on the material after EMI contacted him, on the basis that the material would be released as part of a boxset featuring other material.
Girls Aloud was an English-Irishpop girl group, which was created through the ITV talent show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002. The group comprised singers Nadine Coyle, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh. The group achieved a string of twenty consecutive top ten singles in the United Kingdom, including four number ones. They also achieved seven certified albums, of which two reached number one. They have been nominated for five Brit Awards, winning the 2009 Best Single for "The Promise".
The group's musical style was pop, but throughout their career they had experimented with electropop and dance-pop. Girls Aloud's collaborations with Brian Higgins and his songwriting and production team Xenomania earned the group critical acclaim, due to an innovative approach to mainstream pop music. The group became one of the few UK reality television acts to achieve continued success, amassing a fortune of £30 million by May 2010. Guinness World Records lists them as "Most Successful Reality TV Group" in the 2007 edition. They also hold the record for "Most Consecutive Top Ten Entries in the UK by a Female Group" in the 2008 edition, and are credited again for "Most Successful Reality TV Group" in the 2011 edition. The group was also named the United Kingdom's biggest selling girl group of the 21st century, with over 4.3 million singles sales and 4 million albums sold in the UK alone. In March 2013, after the Ten: The Hits Tour, the group announced their split.
These monkey faces are laughing at me
Easy, one of life's rejections anyway, yeah
I wanted to be beautiful
My big decisions are going the flow
Easy, we were always losers anyway, yeah
Sitting on the fence again
All my big decisions always ruin my life
Gets harder with time
All my big decisions make me act like a child
Decisions decisions all the time
Not content to be one of life's spectators
I gravitate to all those stiffs and geeks, yeah
Life is entertaining me
Hurting strangers was easy
My weakness, my electric man is taking over me, yeah
I just brought him out again
All my big decisions always ruin my life
Gets harder with time
All my big decisions make me act like a child
Decisions decisions all the time
I want you to stay
I want you to go
I can't make up my mind
It's driving me mad
I'm going the flow
I can't even decide
All my big decisions always ruin my life
Gets harder with time
All my big decisions make me act like a child
Decisions decisions all the time
I want you to stay
I want you to go
I can't make up my mind
It's driving me mad
I'm going the flow
I can't even decide
No, no, no, no yeah...
I want you to stay
I want you to go
Yeah, no, oh, yeah, oh
It's driving me mad
I'm going the flow
Oh, yeah, ow...
