Támar

Ashley Támar Davis, known professionally as Támar, is an American R&B singer who came to prominence through her association with the artist Prince. She sang the co-lead vocals on his Grammy-nominated song "Beautiful, Loved and Blessed" from his 2006 album, 3121 and on backup vocals throughout the album. Támar started her musical career in the group Girl's Tyme, appearing with them on Star Search, but left before the group was renamed Destiny's Child.

Prince and Támar

Around 1994, Prince heard a demo by Támar and told her that one day when she was older, he wanted to hear her again. A few years later, Prince called her into his Paisley Park studio. Nothing transpired from that visit, nor did she get to meet with Prince, so Támar went about doing her own thing, graduating from Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and then studying music business at the University of Southern California, all while focusing on her musical career. Támar who also speaks French, German and Swahili became part of an all-female jazz/funk band called Angaza (which means "to give light" in Swahili), who released an album called Light. At the time, she went by the name Ashley T'Amar Davis.

Tamar (name)

Tamar (Arabic: تمر‎, Hebrew: תמר) is a female name of Hebrew origin, meaning "date" (the edible kind), "date palm" or just "palm tree". There are three characters in the Bible with this name. The pronunciation of Tamar depends on each so-named person's language, culture, and idiolectic preference; typical pronunciations in English are /ˈtɑːmər/ and /ˈteɪmər/.

The name was not often used in traditional Jewish societies, possibly because both Biblical characters bearing the name are depicted as involved in controversial sexual affairs. It was, however, among the Biblical names revived and actively promoted by the Zionist pioneers, and is a common female name in contemporary Israel (often shortened, as in other languages, to "Tammy" (תמי) - which is sometimes treated as name on its own).

It is also a popular name among Armenians, sometimes nicknamed "Tamarik", meaning "Little Tamar". According to Armenian folklore, the name of Akhtamar Island in Lake Van is attributed to a peasant boy's longing cries of "Akh (Oh), Tamar!" as he drowns trying to reach his beloved Princess Tamar imprisoned on the island.

Kiss is a 2009 thriller novel by Christian author Ted Dekker and Erin Healy.

Plot summary

Shauna McAllister is unable to recall past events and it all started six weeks after a car accident that left her suffering a coma. She doesn’t recall anything about the accident, as well as the months leading up to the accident. Alligations surface that effect Shauna, and her father, Landon McAllister. Landon is head of McAllister MediVista, a pharmaceutical research company, who is a senator that has his eyes on the White House. Shauna is somewhat aware that something stands in the way for their relationship to be reconciled. Her brother Rudy who is her only ally, and her father’s favorite is the victim in the very accident she is being blamed for.

Shauna turns to Wayne Spade, her forgotten boyfriend, to help her piece things together to figure out the events that led up to the accident. On her journey for answers she discovers a mental ability which causes more questions to be raised. She begins to lose trust in all those around her, and it starts to become clear that those around her are determined to keep her from recovering her memories that she pursues.

Kiss (Versailles album)

Kiss (2003) is an darkwave/electronic album by Dianna St. Hilaire, better known as Versailles.

In 2003, Versailles released her first full-length album Live Your Life. Later that year, she created an all-electronic single called "Kiss", breaking away from the previous heavier guitar-based sound. The single was written, produced, mixed and mastered by St. Hilaire. This was released in late 2003 on a limited number of CD-R's. The album is a rare find and is available on her website.

CKIS-FM

CKIS-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 92.5 FM in Toronto, Ontario. The station broadcasts a Top 40 (CHR) format branded as KiSS 92.5. The station is one of two CHR-pop stations licensed to the city of Toronto (the other being CKFM) as well as the first CHR-pop station owned by Rogers since CHTT-FM in Victoria shifted from top 40 to hot AC in July 2003.

CKIS's studios are located at the Rogers Building at Bloor and Jarvis in the northeastern corner of downtown Toronto, while its transmitter is located atop First Canadian Place.

History

Country music (1993-1999)

On August 8, 1990, Rawlco Communications was awarded a licence from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) for a new FM radio station. The format chosen to air on the frequency was country music that would target an audience ranging from 25–54 years of age. Rawlco planned on changing frequencies for the station to 99.1 FM, which was formerly the home of CKO-FM-1, but cancelled the plan after the CRTC denied this, and gave 99.1 to CBLA. On January 26, 1993 at 1 PM, singer Anne Murray pressed the button to launch the station, with the CISS-FM call letters and "92.5 CISS-FM" (pronounced "Kiss FM") branding. The station's licensing by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission had been controversial, because the CRTC had passed over an application by Milestone Radio for an urban music station, which would have been a new format in the Toronto market, in favour of Rawlco's application. Milestone's second attempt at an urban station was also passed over in favour of CBLA; the company finally won a licence on its third attempt, and launched CFXJ-FM in 2001. The station's transmitter was located atop First Canadian Place.
