Kings Park Stadium

The Kings Park Stadium (also known as Growthpoint Kings Park for sponsorship reasons and also commercially promoted as The Shark Tank), is a stadium in the Kings Park Sporting Precinct in Durban, South Africa. The stadium was originally built with a capacity of 12,000 and opened in 1958, extensively renovated in the 1980s and then again in time for the 1995 Rugby World Cup. It currently has a capacity of 52,000 and is the home ground of the Sharks. The stadium has also been used by Durban-based Premier Soccer League football (soccer) clubs, as well as for large football finals.

It was previously also known as the ABSA Stadium and Mr Price Kings Park Stadium due to sponsorship deals.

1995 Rugby World Cup

The stadium was used as one of the venues for the 1995 Rugby World Cup held in South Africa. The stadium hosted three pool games in Pool B. The stadium also hosted one quarter final with France defeating Ireland 36-12. A very wet semi final was played here on 17 June 1995 between South Africa and France, with the Springboks winning 19-15 on their way to the nation's first ever Rugby World Cup trophy.

Kings Park (LIRR station)

Kings Park is a station on the Port Jefferson Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. It is located at the southwest corner of Suffolk CR 14 (Indian Head Road) and NY 25A (Main Street) in Kings Park, New York. This train station is located in the Kings Park Central School District.

History

Originally known as St. Johnsland station when it was built by Charles Hallett of Riverhead for the Smithtown and Port Jefferson Railroad between November and December 1872, it was renamed Kings Park station in June 1891. The Kings Park area was the site of a major derailment on February 16, 1947, but there were no casualties. The station was rebuilt in 1948 with an attached freight storage area, and rebuilt again during the 1990s. Kings Park station also had a spur called the Kings Park Psychiatric Center Spur to the former Kings Park Psychiatric Center, which was originally built in 1896, and officially decommissioned in 1971, although trains were used to bring coal to the hospital until 1987. Today the right-of-way serves as the Kings Park Hike and Bike Trail, which leads to the Nissequogue River State Park.

King's Park (ward)

King's Park (from May 1978 to May 2002 Kings Park) is a ward in the London Borough of Hackney and forms part of the Hackney South and Shoreditch constituency. The ward is subject to minor boundary changes taking place in May 2014. It returns three councillors.

1978–2002

Kings Park ward was created for the 1978 local elections, with an electorate of 4,373.

2002–2014

There was a revision of ward boundaries in Hackney in 2002 and a new King's Park ward was created.

The ward returns three councillors to Hackney London Borough Council, with an election every four years. At the previous election on 6 May 2010 Julius Asabgwiy Nkafu, Sharon Patrick, and Saleem Siddiqui all Labour Party candidates, were returned. Turnout was 58%; with 4,346 votes cast.

King's Park ward has a total population of 10,923. This compares with the average ward population within the borough of 10,674.

From 2014

Hackney wards are redrawn from May 2014. The new King's Park ward is mostly unchanged, expanding to the southwest to take in part of the abolished Chatham ward. It has an allocation of three councillors.
