Kim (M*A*S*H)

Kim was the 30th episode of the M*A*S*H television series, and sixth episode of season two. The episode aired on October 20, 1973.

Plot

Among the wounded arriving at the hospital one day is a five-year-old boy, Kim. The hospital staff believe him to be an orphan, and conspire to keep him at the camp for longer than necessary (rather than sending him on to the care of an orphanage) so they can care for him themselves. Trapper is especially taken with the child, and makes plans to adopt him.

One afternoon, while Frank and Margaret are supposed to be watching Kim, the boy wanders off into a minefield. A helicopter-assisted rescue is successful, and once on safe ground, Trapper hugs the boy, to the delight of gathering 4077th personnel. Meanwhile, a truck pulls up, driven by Sister Teresa, who runs the local orphanage. Her passenger - a young Korean woman - sees Kim and rushes to him. Sister Teresa explains that the woman came to her, looking for her missing son. As the three drive away, Kim waves goodbye to Trapper.

Míša

Míša is a popular Czech brand of frozen confection. Míšas have been made continuously since 1961, and sell over 12 million ice pops per year, making it the most successful ice cream brand in the Czech Republic. It has survived events such as the Velvet Revolution and is fondly remembered as an integral part of Czech childhood.

They are made with frozen cream cheese, rather than ice cream or yogurt.

The logo features a grinning green bear, holding its arms above the word "Míša."

Master of Arts (Scotland)

The degree of Master of Arts in Scotland typically refers to a four-year undergraduate Honours degree in the arts, humanities or social sciences awarded by one of the ancient universities of Scotland – the University of St Andrews, the University of Glasgow, the University of Aberdeen, the University of Edinburgh - plus the University of Dundee (as a result of its history as a constituent college of the University of St Andrews) and Heriot-Watt University. The first two years of the Scottish Master of Arts consist of ordinary Bachelor level courses, however, after these, students who are accepted to pursue the Honours route will complete more advanced subjects and write a dissertation in their fourth year. Students who instead choose to do a "general" degree will complete their third year at a lower level of specialisation, and receive a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or an MA without Honours. For the postgraduate degree referred to in other places as "Master of Arts", Scottish universities usually award the degree of Master of Letters (MLitt). Generally, non-ancient universities in Scotland (e.g. University of Strathclyde, The Robert Gordon University, University of the Highlands and Islands, etc.), award arts degrees as Bachelor of Arts.

Future Primitive (The Vines album)

Future Primitive is the fifth studio album by Australian alternative rock band The Vines. It was released on 3 June 2011.

Background

The majority of the album was recorded at Studios 301, Sydney, Australia during February and March 2010 with producer Christopher Colonna of The Bumblebeez. Additional recording and production touch-ups occurred throughout the preceding year (2010–early 2011) whilst the band shopped the album to potential record labels, as they were without a label at the time having financed the recording sessions themselves. The band signed to Sony Music Australia for the release.

Lead track "Gimme Love" is the opening track of The Inbetweeners Movie.

"Black Dragon" and "Goodbye" are used in the opening titles of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.

Kim (1984 film)

Kim is a 1984 British television film directed by John Davies and based on Rudyard Kipling's novel Kim. The film stars Peter O'Toole, Bryan Brown, John Rhys-Davies, Nadira, Julian Glover, Jalal Agha, Raj Kapoor and Ravi Sheth in the title role.

Plot

Kim (Ravi Sheth) is a 13-year-old street orphan in Lahore of the 19th century (1894). Kim thinks he is native, but he's actually of British origin, the son of an Irish soldier and an unknown mother (unlike the novel on which it is based, Kim's mother is not portrayed as Irish, but it is made clear that Kim is white). Kim is hired as a guide by a travelling Tibetan lama (Peter O'Toole) on a search for a river where Budda hurled an arrow, turning it into a place of redemption. When he finds his father's regiment and the British military discover his origins and his real name, Kimball O'Hara, he's placed in an English college. His nature, however, is opposed to the regimentation expected for the son of a British soldier, and he rebels. His familiarity with Indian life and his ability to pass as an Indian child allows him to function as a spy for the British as they attempt to thwart revolution and invasion of India. Rejoining his holy man, Kim is trained by an Englishman called Babu (John Rhys Davies) to become a British spy and receives orders from a British Colonel (Julian Glover) who assigns him a risky mission in the Big Game, the behind-the-scenes struggle between Imperial Britain and Russia for supremacy in Afghanistan and Central Asia. He also befriends an astute Afghan horse-dealer named Mahbub Ali (Bryan Brown), a British Secret Service agent, who helps him with his task.

Kim (1950 film)

Kim is a 1950 adventure film made in Technicolor by MGM. It was directed by Victor Saville and produced by Leon Gordon from a screenplay by Helen Deutsch, Leon Gordon and Richard Schayer, based on the classic novel of the same name by Rudyard Kipling.

The film starred Errol Flynn, Dean Stockwell, and Paul Lukas. The music score was by André Previn. The film was shot on location in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, India, as well as the Alabama Hills near Lone Pine, California, due to its resemblance to the Khyber Pass. Of particular interest is the location filming at La Martiniere College in Lucknow.

Plot

Kim (Dean Stockwell), an orphan boy in 1885 India during the British Raj, works at times for his friend Mahbub Ali (Errol Flynn), a roguish horse trader who is also a secret agent for the British. Mahbub Ali becomes aware of a Russian-backed plot to instigate a rebellion.

Meanwhile, Kim encounters an elderly Buddhist lama (Paul Lukas) from Tibet, who is on a quest to find the "River of the Arrow", whose waters will cleanse him spiritually. Mahbub Ali has the young boy become the kindly priest's "chela" or disciple so that he can deliver a message to Colonel Creighton (Robert Douglas), Mahbub Ali's superior. On the journey along the Grand Trunk Road, the two travelers grow to love each other. Kim learns to beg passersby for coins.
