Kevin Griffin (born October 1, 1968) is an American guitarist, vocalist, producer, and songwriter.

Griffin formed the alternative rock band Better Than Ezra in 1988. The band had great success in the 1990s with hits such as "Good", "In the Blood", and "Desperately Wanting", and has continued in the 2000s with hits such as "Extra Ordinary", "A Lifetime", and "Juicy". They continue to tour and produce new recordings, the most recent of which is All Together Now, released in September 2014. As a singer and performer, Griffin is known for singing in falsetto, inviting audience members onstage to play guitar, and interrupting his own songs with verses of well-known rock songs. He is a skilled mimic, imitating singers from Aaron Neville to Bruce Springsteen.

Personal life

Kevin Griffin grew up and attended high-school in Monroe, Louisiana. Later, Griffin received a bachelor's degree in English and a minor in political science from Louisiana State University in 1990. There he became a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He took the LSAT with the intention of pursuing a law degree and working in entertainment law. Griffin took a job with Creative Artists Agency in Los Angeles during the early 1990s, before Better Than Ezra achieved commercial success.

Yankee Grey

Yankee Grey was an American country music group originally composed of six members: David Buchanan (bass guitar), Matthew Basford (lead guitar), Joe Caverlee (fiddle), Kevin Griffin (drums), Jerry Hughes (keyboards), and Tim Hunt (lead vocals), all of whom met in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Founded in 1986, the band toured throughout the state of Ohio before being signed to a record deal with Monument Records in 1999. The same year, they made their debut on the Billboard country music charts with the Top Ten single "All Things Considered", followed by the release of their debut album Untamed, which produced two more hit singles on the country charts. After exiting Monument, the band signed to the independent Stonewall label in 2002.

Biography

Yankee Grey was founded in Cincinnati in 1986 by drummer Kevin Griffin and guitarist Matthew Basford. Bass guitarist David Buchanan and lead vocalist Tim Hunt were added soon afterward, and the group began to perform in various bars and clubs around Cincinnati. Eventually, keyboardist Jerry Hughes and fiddle player Joe Caverlee were added as well, completing the band's lineup. After several years of playing local venues in Ohio, Yankee Grey was eventually spotted by an engineer who had connections to Nashville, Tennessee, record producers. He then asked the band to record a demo tape; Cliff Audretch, Senior Director of Sony Music Nashville, heard the demo tape and traveled to Ohio to see them perform.

Kevin Griffin (born June 3, 1975 in Mississippi, United States) is an American professional basketballShooting guard/Small forward, currently playing in Nicaragua South America for Costa Caribe HEMCO.

A graduate of Lynn University, 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m) Griffin started his pro career with the USBL team Tampa Bay Windjammers in 1998, where in 18 games he averaged 17 points and 6 rebounds per game, while shooting 47 percent from the floor and over 39 percent from the three point range. In 1999 he averaged 19 points and 5 reounds per game. Two years later, he made his first move into European basketball, by signing for British Basketball League club Derby Storm in 2001, making his debut against the Chester Jets on September 1, and eventually being named in the 2001 All-Star game.

After one season at Derby, where he averaged 23.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2 steals per game. Griffin transferred to Midlands rivals Birmingham Bullets, a powerhouse in the league at the time for the 2003-2004 season. Where he was voted team "Offensive Player of The Year, he averaged 15 points and 5 rebounds per game while helping the team reach the BBL Trophy Semifinals. However, with off-court disputes and distractions aplenty at the Bullets, Griffin did not return for a second year, instead opting for a move to Irish team UCC Blue Demons for the 2003-04 season. In just one season in Ireland, the guard helped his team to an appearance in the Playoff final, earning runners-up spot, while averaging 19 points and 6 rebounds.
