List of primary state highways in Kentucky

State highways in Kentucky are maintained by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, which classifies routes as either primary or secondary. Some routes, such as Kentucky Route 80, are both primary and secondary, with only a segment of the route listed as part of the primary system. Despite the name, there is no difference in signage between primary and secondary routes.

Due to the large size of the state highway system, only segments of routes that are part of the primary system are listed below. Complete lists are on the following pages:

All of the Interstates and parkways are also primary, but only parts of the U.S. Highways in Kentucky are (though every mainline U.S. Highway is at least partially primary).

Primary state highways

Kentucky Route 949

Kentucky Route 949 (KY 949) is a rural secondary east–west state highway in west-central Kentucky.

Route description

KY 949's western terminus is located just north of Dunmor at a junction with U.S. Route 431 (US 431) in southeastern Muhlenberg County. It winds and curves its way through Gus, crosses the Mud River into Butler County and ends at an intersection on KY 06 just south of Huntsville.

It serves a direct link from western Butler County to the Lake Malone area.

Kentucky Route 388

Kentucky Route 388 (KY 388) is a 12.9-mile (20.8 km) state highway located entirely within Madison County, in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It connects downtown Richmond to KY 627 and eventually connects to Winchester. The route also comes within 0.5 miles (0.80 km) of Clark County.

Quebec Route 125

Route 125 is a Quebec highway running from Montreal (on Pie-IX Boulevard near the Olympic Stadium) to Saint-Donat, Lanaudière, Quebec in the Lanaudière. The southern section of Route 125 runs parallel to Autoroute 25 in Laval, Mascouche, and Terrebonne. At Saint-Esprit, the Autoroute ends, and 125 continues northwards until the entrance to the Mont Tremblant Provincial Park north of Saint-Donat.

Illinois Route 125

Illinois Route 125 (IL-125) is a major 37.10 miles (59.71 km) highway in the central portion of the U.S. state of Illinois. Illinois 125 runs east from the concurrent U.S. Route 67 and Illinois Route 100 near Beardstown to Illinois Route 97 in Farmingdale, west of Springfield.

Route description

Illinois 125 lies within Cass County and Sangamon County, and serves the towns of Ashland and Virginia. Virginia is the county seat of Cass County.

IL-125 follows most of the route of the Sangamon Trail, a pioneer trail from Springfield, the state capital, to the Illinois River. Points of interest directly located on IL-125 include the Clayville Tavern, an 1824 hostelry located 2 miles (3.2 km) east of Pleasant Plains, and the Illinois River bluff at Bluff Springs, five miles (8 km) east of Beardstown and the river.

Points of interest marked on IL-125, but not directly on the road, include the Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Fish and Wildlife Area in eastern Cass County northwest of Ashland, and the old Cass County courthouse in Beardstown where lawyer Abraham Lincoln practiced.
