Wong is the Jyutping (Cantonese) and Hong Kong romanization of the mainland Chinese surnames Wang (Chinese: 王).

Huang and Vong (simplified Chinese: 黄; traditional Chinese: 黃), two ubiquitous Chinese surnames; Wang (Chinese: 汪), another common Chinese surname; and a host of other rare Chinese surnames, including Heng (simplified Chinese: 横; traditional Chinese: 橫), Hong (Chinese: 弘), Hong (simplified Chinese: 闳; traditional Chinese: 閎), and Hong (Chinese: 宏) Note that, while 汪 could be distinguished by its tone, 黃 (Wong/Huang) and 王 (Wong/Wang) are homophones in Cantonese. Wong (comics)

Wong is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is the sidekick and valet of Doctor Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth. Wong was first mentioned in the comic Strange Tales #110 and first appeared in Strange Tales #147. In the 2006 miniseries Dr. Strange: the Oath, it was revealed that Wong stems from a family of monks living in Kamar-Taj. He has a cousin currently in training in the occult and has talked to him about one day replacing Wong as a servant to Dr. Strange.

Fictional character biography

Wong is the descendant and look-alike of Kan, a Chinese monk who lived roughly one thousand years ago and was a student of the occult. Kan was also a teacher and a healer, and though his order of monks was devoted to the ways of peace, he was also a skillful warrior who would fight when necessary.

One day Kan discovered a strange temple. Exploring it, Kan was drawn against his will through a mystical black mirror into an other-dimensional realm. There Kan met Jehan, king of Siridar, his sister, Princess Shialmar, and their court magician, Vung, the one who had cast the spell drawing Kan through the mirror. Jehan persuaded Kan to lead his people in a war against the Wizard Kings who ruled this other-dimensional realm. Kan agreed to do so. During his time in this realm, Kan and Shialmar fell in love with each other.

Wong (supermarket)

Wong is a supermarket chain in Peru. Known until 2005 as E. Wong, it started as a small store opened in 1942 by Chinese Peruvians in a residential area of the Miraflores District in Lima. Today, Cencosud has 18 supermarkets Wong.

History and development

In 1942, Erasmo Wong, a Chinese-Peruvian, opened a small store at a corner in the Av. 2 de Mayo, in a residential area in San Isidro. Originally a family business, the store kept growing and in 1983, the first store of the present-day Wong supermarket chain was inaugurated. The next store to be opened was located in Ovalo Gutiérrez, in Miraflores. Some years later, stores in Santiago de Surco were also opened; and by 1995, Wong had five stores all around Lima.

Wong's growth was characterized by going against market trends, being more customer-service–oriented instead of the more usual self-service and investing during some of the Peruvian economy's hardest times.

Kenny McCormick

Kenneth "Kenny" McCormick (sometimes spelled as McKormick) is a main character in the animated adult television series South Park. Kenny is one of the main characters in the series, along with his friends Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, and Eric Cartman. His oft-muffled and indiscernible speech—the result of his parka hood covering his mouth—is provided by co-creator Matt Stone. He debuted on television when South Park first aired on August 13, 1997, after having first appeared in The Spirit of Christmas shorts created by Stone and long-time collaborator Trey Parker in 1992 (Jesus vs. Frosty) and 1995 (Jesus vs. Santa).

Kenny is a third- then fourth-grade student who commonly has extraordinary experiences not typical of conventional small-town life in his hometown of South Park, Colorado, where he lives with his impoverished family. Kenny is animated by computer to look as he did in the show's original method of cutout animation. He also appears in the 1999 full-length feature film South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, in which his true appearance and voice was first revealed, and various South Park merchandise.

Kenny (album)

Kenny is the sixth studio album by Kenny Rogers, released in 1979. It includes the singles "Coward of the County" and "You Decorated My Life."

"Tulsa Turnaround" is a reworking of an earlier song Rogers recorded with The First Edition.

"Goodbye Marie" was later recorded by Bobby Goldsboro, charting as a single for him in 1981.

The album reached the top five of the US Billboard album chart and #1 in the Country charts (where it stayed for a record total of 25 weeks). In the UK, it was a top ten album as well. In 2007, the album was issued as a two album set on one CD, the other album included on the disc being the self-titled Kenny Rogers from 1976.

In the sleevenotes for the 2009 reissue on the Edsel record label, biographer Chris Bolton notes that this album "does its best to represent every musical personality of Kenny Rogers." Stephen Thomas Erlewine states that the album mixes music styles from Country to Disco.

This album has reportedly sold over 20 million copies worldwide.
