Yamuna is a sacred river in Hinduism and the main tributary of the Ganges (Ganga), the holiest river of Hinduism. The river worshipped as a Hindu goddess called Yamuna. In the Vedas, Yamuna is known as Yami, while in later literature, she is called Kalindi.
In the Vedas, Yami is associated with her twin brother and partner Yama, the god of death. Later, she is associated with the god Krishna as one of Ashtabharya, his consort as well and plays an important role in his early life as a river. Bathing and drinking Yamuna's waters is regarded to remove sin.
Yamuna's iconographic depiction is seen on temple doorjambs, along with that of Ganga (the goddess of the Ganges), since the Gupta era. The Agni Purana describes Yamuna's iconography. She is depicted as black in complexion and stands on her mount, the tortoise, holding a water pot in her hand. In an ancient painting she is shown as a beautiful maiden standing on the banks of the river.
Yamuna is described as the daughter of the sun god Surya (though some say that she was the daughter of Brahma) and his wife Saranyu (Sanjna in later literature), the goddess of the clouds, and the twin sister of Yama, the god of death. Her other brothers include Vaivasvata Manu, the first man and the twin Ashvins, divine doctors. She is described as Surya's favourite child. As the daughter of Surya, she is also called as Suryatanaya, Suryaja and Ravinandini.
Rani Kalindi (?-1873 CE) was the 46th ruler of the Chakma Circle. She was only female ruler of the Chakma people.
She was born in the village of Kudukchari near the Rangamati-Khagrachari highway in present-day Chittagong Hill Tracts region of Bangladesh and was the daughter of a commoner called "Guzong Bujjye" which literally means "bent old man" translated from the Chakma language.
Raja Dharam Bux Khan married her.
After his death she became the reigning Rani after a brief power struggle with rival queens and the estate manager called Shuklal Dewan backed by Captain Thomas Herbert Lewin the British Superintendent of Chittagong Hill Tracts district.
She institutionalized and patronized Theravada Buddhism in the kingdom by inviting monks from Myanmar.
During her time the Rajbari was at Rajanagar, Rangunia now in Chittagong District.
Along with hundreds of Buddhist Temples, she also built Churches, Mosques and Hindu Temples for her non-Buddhist subjects, thereby creating loyalty and support for Chakma Raj from non-Chakma peoples.
Time came around and I was in need
You came by my side, all my troubles to ease
You collected my heart, healing the past
You'll never lay down [unverified] and I can count on you
We all speak well of a bridge that carries us over
Over safe
The art of compromise has surely been our greatest strength
Our greatest strength
When someone pretends to circle your friend
And finds, he's [unverified] betraying you 'fore it all ends
A bittersweet chain, that'll always remain
So don't let illusions get the better of you
We all speak well of a bridge that carries us over
Over safe
The art of compromise has surely been our greatest strength
Our greatest strength
Love is to share where words can't compare
Love is desire, so full of fire
We all speak well of a bridge that carries us over
Over safe
The art of compromise has surely been our greatest strength
Our greatest strength
We all speak well of a bridge that carries us over
Over safe
The art of compromise has surely been our greatest strength
