Mount Kailash

Mount Kailash (also Mount Kailas; Kangrinboqê or Gang Rinpoche; Tibetan: གངས་རིན་པོ་ཆེ, Sanskrit: कैलाश Kailāśa) is a peak in the Kailash Range (Gangdisê Mountains), which forms part of the Transhimalaya in Tibet China. It lies near the source of some of the longest rivers in Asia: the Indus River, the Sutlej River (a major tributary of the Indus River), the Brahmaputra River, and the Karnali River (a tributary of the River Ganga). It is considered a sacred place in four religions: Bön, Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. The mountain lies near Lake Manasarovar and Lake Rakshastal in Tibet.

Name

The mountain is known as Kailāśa (कैलाश) in Sanskrit. The word may be derived from the word kēlāsa (केलास) which means "crystal". In his Tibetan-English dictionary, Chandra (1902: p. 32) identifies the entry for 'kai la sha' (Wylie: kai la sha ) which is a loan word from Sanskrit 'kailāśa' (Devanagari: कैलाश).

The Tibetan name for the mountain is Gangs Rin-po-che. Gangs or Kang is the Tibetan word for snow peak analogous to alp or himal; rinpoche is an honorific meaning "precious one" so the combined term can be translated "precious jewel of snows".

Kailasa (band)

Kailasa is an Indian fusion band, founded by Kailash Kher. The name of the band is taken from an accented pronunciation of Kailash's own name as well as Mount Kailash, the abode of Hindu God Shiva. Along with guitars, drums and keyboards, the band incorporates classical Indian instruments and sometimes traditional lyrics into their songs to infuse folk and a Sufi hue.

  • Musical style

Kailasa's music is a blend of medieval Indian music, Sufi and Western music. Lyrical themes though vary but the most distinct style of Kailash Kher is where he sings as through a female devotee/lover trying to persuade her deity/loved one. Fusion of love, worship and persuasion is inspired by the works of medieval Rajasthani poet Meerabai. Such an influence can be observed in songs 'Teri Deewani' and 'Albela Saajan' from their eponymous debut album. Similar theme can be found in another of their song 'Babam Bam' from the album 'Jhoomo Re' where the singer is persuading Lord Shiva.

    Kailasa (album)

Kailasa is the eponymous debut album of the Indian Sufi/Fusion band Kailasa, led by Kailash Kher. The album was released in the year 2006 in India.

    Songs

Kailasa consists of 9 songs. Track no. 8 is a remix of the song 'Tauba Tauba'. The last track 'Allah Ke Bande' is mentioned as live on the tracklist but it is actually a version recording of song of the same name from the movie 'Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II'. The opening track 'Teri Deewani' is a love song mixing themes of love and devotion. 'Jana Jogi De Naal', is a sufi/folk song. Its lyrics are taken from separate works of Kabirdas and Bulle Shah. Similarly 'Naiharwa' is a traditional song written by Kabirdas.

    Album art

The album art is designed by 'Mangoblossom Design' and depicts Kailash Kher as a sage. The back of the CD and vinyl album artwork show all three members of the band.

    by: Kelis

    ...Let's go...
I've been lovin' u for here long knowin' I was never clear
But I have no fear today cause I'm gonna say
What I gotta say, I don't wanna play the role
Bustin' through the door, I'm gonna take ur heart fo' sure, oh
Put ur hands up in the air, it's a stick up
I'm gon take ur heart from here, now let's fix up
Put ur hands in the air, in the air, in the air
I'm gonna play my cards from here
    And take this gamble sure
My words are gonna fumble, but this beat is mighty humble
Ain't goin nowhere, sure I'm scared but my life's a dare
And baby u just got so much flare, we'll be the perfect pair
I'm gonna share my mind with u, u've been blinded
    My life's been blue, I'm takin u, I'm takin u
Put ur hands up in the air, it's a stick up
I'm gon take ur heart from here, now let's fix up
Put ur hands in the air, in the air, in the air
Put ur hands up in the air, it's a stick up
I'm gon take ur heart from here, now let's fix up
Put ur hands in the air, in the air, in the air
In the air, in the air, in the air
When I first met u, I wanted to wet u
Not a gun but a different content, sexual
U tried to run, I still get u
Steel metal not needed, a whole 'nother meaning
Don't want ur gold, want ur soul
Control ur heartbeatin, cause when I start squeezin that muscle
That's the trigger, than I got u nigga, in ya
Chopper spinners, got ur bodyguards wit cha
Diamond dog tag chain swingin, I had them thangs ringin
This is a robbery, no one's gettin free
Till that man, he comes with me
Put ur hands up in the air, it's a stick up
I'm gon take ur heart from here, now let's fix up
