K Street Project

The K Street Project is an effort by the Republican Party (GOP) to pressure Washington lobbying firms to hire Republicans in top positions, and to reward loyal GOP lobbyists with access to influential officials, an arrangement known as crony capitalism. It was launched in 1995 by Republican strategist Grover Norquist and then-House majority whip Tom DeLay. It has been criticized as being part of a "coziness" between the GOP and large corporations which has allegedly allowed business to rewrite government regulations affecting their own industries in some cases, such as with Dick Cheney's energy task force.

Shortly after the 1994 elections which gave a majority of seats to Republican candidates, DeLay called prominent Washington lobbyists into his office. He had pulled the public records of political contributions that they made to Democrats and Republicans. According to Texans for Public Justice, "he reminded them that Republicans were in charge and their political giving had better reflect that—or else. The "or else" was a threat to cut off access to the Republican House leadership."

1430 K Street is a high-rise skyscraper building located in the United States capital of Washington, D.C. The building was constructed in 2005 and its construction was completed in 2006. On its completion, the building rose to 150 feet (46 m), featuring 12 floors. The building serves as an office and parking garage.

This was the first office building in the Washington downtown to be fully sold as a condominium. Non-profit associations and lobbying groups like the American Educational Research Association are buying floors of the building to replace their previous brownstone town houses which are not now suitable to be modern offices.

The architect of the building was Alkridge, who designed the post modern design of the building. Alkridge was selected to design the building by NEST and Totah Venture, marketing organizations. Before 1430 K Street was built, two buildings were demolished in order for the construction of this building to take place.

1875 K Street is a high-rise skyscraper building located in the United States capital of Washington, D.C.. The building began construction in 2000, and was completed in 2001. Upon completion, the building rose to 155 feet (47 m), featuring 12 floors and 5 elevators. The architect of the building was Hartman-Cox Architects, who designed the postmodern design of the building. The building was sold to Shorenstein Company in 2005 for $113 million.

Law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher is the anchor tenant in the building.Foley Hoag also has their Washington office in this building, There also was a Così restaurant located in the building, which was replaced by a Protein Bar in 2014.
