KXNT (AM)
KXNT (840 kHz) is an AM radio station licensed to North Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. It is owned by CBS Radio and carries a talk radio format The station's studios are located in the unincorporated Clark County area of Spring Valley, while KXNT's transmitter is located near Nellis Air Force Base and serves the greater Las Vegas metropolitan area. KXNT is a Class B station operating on a clear channel frequency. WHAS in Louisville, Kentucky is the dominant Class A station on 840 AM. So KXNT must reduce its power at night, to avoid interfering with WHAS's signal. KXNT operates at 50,000 watts by day and 25,000 watts at night.
In 2008 KXNT filed an application with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission to move to a different transmitter site and decrease its night power to 10,000 watts.
KXNT is licensed to broadcast in the HD radio format. It is also heard on the HD-2 channel of sister station 100.5 KXQQ-FM.
Programming
KNXT airs both local and nationally syndicated talk shows. Weekdays begin at 4 a.m. with This Morning, America's First News with Gordon Deal. At 6 a.m. Heidi Harris hosts a local wake-up show of news, interviews and phone calls. At 9 a.m., KXNT carries Rush Limbaugh followed at noon by Dave Ramsey. Then two more local shows air, Alan Stock at 3 p.m. and Chad Benson at 6 p.m. At 10 p.m. and running all night, it's Coast to Coast AM with George Noory.
