KTHV

KTHV virtual channel 11 (VHF digital channel 12) is a CBS-affiliated television station located in Little Rock, Arkansas, United States. The station is owned by Tegna, Inc. KTHV maintains studio facilities located on South Izard Street in downtown Little Rock, and its transmitter facilities are located atop Shinall Mountain, near the Chenal Valley neighborhood of Little Rock. On cable, KTHV is available on Comcast Xfinity channel 10 in standard definition and digital channel 233 in high definition.

History

The station first signed on the air on November 27, 1955; it was originally owned by the Arkansas Television Company, a consortium that included among others, the owners of radio station KWKH in Shreveport, the owners of the Arkansas Democrat, and businessman C.E. Lowry. The KTHV call letters were derived from former sister radio station KTHS (whose calls stood Kome To Hot Springs), which later became KAAY after being sold to LIN Broadcasting in the 1960s. It took the CBS affiliation from KATV, due to KTHS's long time affiliation with CBS Radio.
