Krun

Krun (Mandaic: [ˈkrun]) or Akrun ([æˈkrun]) is the Mandaean lord of the underworld. According to Mandaean legend, he dwells in the lowest depths of creation, supporting the entirety of the physical world. He has the form of a giant louse.

In mythology

Krun is the greatest of the five Mandaean lords of the underworld, the others being Shdum, Hagh, Gaf, and Zartai-Zartani, according to the 5th book of the right half of the Great Treasure (Ginza Rba) of the Mandaeans, their most sacred text.

He is represented by the image of a lion on the skandola talisman, which is used to seal the graves of the newly dead, but according to an oral account collected by E.S. Drower, his appearance is that of a giant louse. The epithet most frequently associated with him is ṭura rba ḏ-bisra, "the mountain of flesh."

In astronomy

The Mandaean community of Iraq and Iran is one of the few communities from the Middle East that still preserve the ancient Babylonian tradition of divination by the stars and heavenly bodies (Astrology), directly from its source, even retaining the traditional Akkadian names for the stars and the visible planets. Despite this unique distinction, the Mandaeans had previously been unrepresented in astronomical place-names.

Krun Macula

Krun is the westernmost of the "Brass Knuckles", a series of equatorial dark regions on Pluto. It is named after Krun, the greatest of the five Mandaean lords of the underworld.

Krun is the third largest equatorial dark region on Pluto, after Cthulhu and Balrog. It extends nearly to 180 degrees longitude, the Plutonian longitude opposite Charon.

KRUN (1400 AM) is an American radio station licensed to serve the community of Ballinger, the county seat of Runnels County, Texas. The station's broadcast license is held by Graham Brothers Communications, LLC.

The station was assigned the call sign "KRUN" by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Programming

KRUN broadcasts a full service country music format including local news, weather, sports, and the syndicated "Today's Best Country" service from Citadel Media. Local on-air personalities include Toby Virden and Jeri Smith on mornings and Kody Mac on mid-days. In addition to its usual music programming, the station broadcasts tradio programs called Trading Post and Keel Drug's Hotline six days a week.

KRUN broadcasts local sporting events throughout the year, covering athletics from Ballinger, Winters, Miles, Paint Rock, and Bronte.
