The station went on the air as KIXT on 1999-06-23. On 2001-08-01, the station changed its call sign to the current KBAI, first as an easy listening format then to oldies. Prior to the founding of the current 930 AM in 1999, 930 AM was known as KBFW and aired a country format.[2]
