Jyothi Lakshmi

Jyothi Lakshmi is an Indian film actress who has appeared in more than 300 movies. In the early 70's, she was well noted for her leading roles and songs in movies. She also has acted in female-oriented movies and is a trained dancer. She predominantly works in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam movies. In the early 80's her popularity gradually declined due to her sister Jayamalini's entry into the movie industry. Her debut was in the film 'Periya Idathu Penn' in 1963.

Jyothi Lakshmi is an Telugu film written and directed by Puri Jagannadh starring and presenting by Charmy Kaur in the titular role. It is produced by Swethalana, Varun, Teja, C. V. Raoa and C. Kalyan under the banners Sri Subha Swetha films and C. K. Entertainments. Sunil Kashyap composed the film's music and P.G. Vinda was the film's cinematographer. Production began on 25 February 2015 and principal photography began on 8 March 2015. The audio launch was held on 4 June 2015 and the film released on 12 June 2015. The title video song is revealed on 1 June. On 5 June censor board gives U/A rating to the movie.

Development

Puri Jagannadh planned to make a female-centric film and after searching for the lead actress from a long time, he approached Charmy Kaur for the lead role considering her dance and acting prowess who immediately accepted to be a part of the film. The film was titled Jyothy Lakshmi in early October 2014 and was rumored to be based on the life of a South Indian actress of the same name. The film's story was also rumoured to be based on a novel written by Malladi Venkata Krishna Murthy. Charmy however clarified in early November 2014 that the film is neither a biopic nor is inspired by any real life character, but a complete commercial entertainer based on a story written by Jagannadh.

Lakshmi

Lakshmi (Sanskrit:लक्ष्मी, lakṣmī, ˈləkʂmiː) is the Hindu goddess of wealth, fortune, and prosperity (both material and spiritual). She is the wife and active energy of Lord Vishnu. Her four hands represent the four goals of human life considered important to the Hindu way of life – dharma, kāma, artha, and moksha. Representations of Lakshmi are also found in Jain monuments. In Buddhist sects of Tibet, Nepal, and southeast Asia, goddess Vasudhara mirrors the characteristics and attributes of the Hindu goddess Lakshmi with minor iconographic differences.

Lakshmi is also called Sri or Thirumagal because she is endowed with six auspicious and divine strength even to Vishnu. When Vishnu descended on the Earth as the avatars Rama and Krishna, Lakshmi descended as his respective consorts: Sita (Rama's wife) and Rukmini (Krishna's wife). In the ancient scriptures of India, all women are declared to be embodiments of Lakshmi. The marriage and relationship between Lakshmi and Vishnu as wife and husband, states Patricia Monaghan, is "the paradigm for rituals and ceremonies for the bride and groom in Hindu weddings."

Lakshmi (A Powerful Man) is a Telugu movie produced by Nallamalupu Bujji on Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Productions on banner, directed by V.V. Vinayak. Starring Venkatesh, Nayantara, Charmme Kaur in the lead roles and music composed by Ramana Gogula. The film received mixed reviews from critics. The film recorded as Super Hit at box-office. The film dubbed into Malayalam as Lakshmi and Hindi as Meri Taaqat.

Lakshmi (2014 film)

Lakshmi is a 2014 Indian Hindi-language biographical social problem film, written and directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. The film deals with the harsh realities of human trafficking and child prostitution, which continue behind closed curtains in rural areas of India. It was earlier expected to release on 17 January 2014, but got delayed due to censorship issues.

The film Won Best Film - Mercedes Benz Audience Award, for Best Narrative at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on 13 January 2014. The film released on 21 March 2014. The film was screened official selection at Toronto Reel World, Washington DC, New York Indian and Melbourne Indian Film Festivals. It would open the 16th London Asian Film Festival in June 2014.

Plot synopsis

Lakshmi, a 14-year-old girl is kidnapped and sold into prostitution. Thrown into this horrific, inhuman world where she is raped and brutally beaten she struggles to survive with the help of the other girls and her own will to never give in.

Jyothi (1976 film)

Jyothi (Telugu: జ్యోతి) is a 1976 Telugu film directed by K. Raghavendra Rao. It is based on the story of an innocent girl "Jyothi." Jayasudha won the Nandi award as Best Actress for her performance in the title role. She later credited the film's success for making her a famous actress in Telugu films. It is a remake of the Hindi film Mili (1975) starring Jaya Bhaduri. though the storyline is completely different from the original except for the heroine suffering from a deadly disease.

Plot

Jyothi (Jayasudha), a teenage girl who is in love with Ravi (Murali Mohan), suddenly marries Rajayya (Gummadi Venkateswara Rao), an old man who is about her father's age. Everyone thinks she married him for the old man's property that she inherits after the marriage, but truth is different. The secret behind this unexpected marriage forms the rest of the gripping family story.

Death

Suffering from breast cancer, she was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai a few days ago. She did not respond to the treatment and died on Friday night. She was 44, A divorcee. She was staying with her daughter at suburban Neelangarai on the ECR and getting treatment for the last couple of years. Her body was cremated at Besant Nagar crematorium.
