Just Us, Atlanta

Just Us is the smallest of the official neighborhoods of Atlanta, consisting of only two streets. It began as the "Fountain Drive-Morris Brown Drive Community Club" in the late 1940s, and evolved into its present name today during the early 1950s. It was established as the first black owned, constructed sub-division in the city of Atlanta. Just Us was on the tour of the Dogwood Trail with its beautiful horticultural display, as well as on the tour route of the city of Atlanta’s scenic Christmas array of lights. The neighborhood has two triangular Parks, I and II, with Park I dedicated to its first President, Margaret Davis Bowen, and Park II, dedicated to President John F. Kennedy, with an eternal gas light flame, as well as a plaque dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Geography

Just Us consists of most of Fountain Drive SW and Morris Brown Drive SW, south of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW. Just Us is bordered by Washington Park on the north and Mozley Park on the west, and by Ashview Heights on the south and east. Just Us is approximately 0.7 miles west of the Ashby MARTA station.

Just Us is the third studio album (second Korean) of South Korean band JYJ. The album was released digitally on July 29, 2014 and physically on August 1, 2014, by C-JeS Entertainment. The band reached an "all kill" status by placing first on Melon, MNet, Genie, Olleh, Naver, and Cyworld music charts an hour after the album release, with their title song, "Back Seat". American singer Chris Brown also produced a song for the album.

Atlanta was an American country music group formed in 1982 in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. It was composed of Brad Griffis (vocals), Bill Davidson (vocals, guitar), Tony Ingram (vocals, fiddle), Alan David (lead guitar), Allen Collay (keyboards), Bill Packard (keyboards), Jeff Baker (harmonica), Dick Stevens (bass guitar) and John Holder (drums). Between 1983 and 1988, Atlanta recorded two albums for MCA Records and charted nine hit singles on the Billboard country charts. Its chart history included two Top Ten country hits in "Atlanta Burned Again Last Night" and "Sweet Country Music." The latter was also the band's highest charting single, peaking at number 5.

History

Atlanta was formed in 1982 by Brad Griffis (Bass guitar), Bill Davidson (vocals, rhythm guitar), Tony Ingram (vocals, fiddle), Alan David (lead guitar), Allen Collay (keyboards), Bill Packard (keyboards), Jeff Baker (harmonica), Dick Stevens (vocals)) and John Holder (drums). Prior to the foundation, Ingram had recorded on Epic Records in the band Spurzz, and Stevens, Davidson, Griffis and David had previously toured as a re-establishment of The Vogues. The group was founded through the assistance of record producer Larry McBride, who had also launched the career of Alabama. With nine members, Atlanta was the largest country music band at the time.

Atlanta (steamboat 1908)

Atlanta was a steamboat built in 1908 at Houghton, Washington which served on Lake Washington and Puget Sound until 1938, when it was converted into a diesel-powered houseboat.

Construction

Atlanta, launched May 28, 1908, was the first vessel built at the Houghton shipyard after it had been taken over by Captain John L. Anderson from its former owners, Captains George Bartsch and Harry Tompkins, and renaming it the Anderson Shipyard. This process had begun in 1906 at the suggest of Jacob Furth, a banker who had also financed the La Conner Trading and Transportation Company.

Atlanta was built entirely of wood. The vessel and was 95 ft (28.96 m) long, 22 ft (6.71 m) beam, and was 87 gross tons and 59 registered tons in overall size.Atlanta was equipped with a double expansion compound steam engine, with cylinder dimensions of 9.5 in (24.1 cm) and 22 in (55.9 cm) with stroke of 16 in (40.6 cm), generating 200 horsepower (150 kW).

Atlanta was registered as steamship number 205232 and was reported to require only two crewmen, at least as of 1909. The vessel cost $30,000 to construct.
