Just Kids

Just Kids is a memoir by Patti Smith, published on January 19, 2010. In the book, Smith documents her relationship with artist Robert Mapplethorpe.

Critical reception

Just Kids won the 2010 National Book Award for Nonfiction. It was a Publishers Weekly’s Top 10 Best Books (2010), ALA Notable Book (2011), Los Angeles Times Book Prize finalist (Current Interest, 2010), New York Times bestseller (Nonfiction, 2010), and National Book Critics Circle Award finalist (Autobiography/Memoir, 2010).

Just Kids was featured on the January 19, 2010, episode of Fresh Air, with Smith being interviewed by Terry Gross.Just Kids was also featured on KQED's Forum with Michael Krasny on January 28, 2010 and KCRW's Bookworm with host Michael Silverblatt in March 2010. It was the Book of the Week on BBC Radio 4 from 1–5 March 2010, with Smith reading five 15-minute excerpts from her book.

TV series

In August 2015, it was announced that Showtime was developing a limited series based on the memoir. The network landed the rights partly because Smith wanted to collaborate with writer John Logan, being a fan of his previous series Penny Dreadful.

Just 4 Fun (TV program)

Just 4 Fun was an Australian children's television show produced by the GTS/BKN television station, which broadcast throughout the Spencer Gulf and Broken Hill regions. The show contained live segments with a presenter interspersed with pre-recorded short cartoons, birthday calls and other TV shows such as The Wotsaname Show produced by Clifford Warne.

Just 4 Fun ran from February 1976 until January 1978 and screened after school on weekdays and was sometimes recorded in front of a live studio audience. In 1977 the station entered arrangements for recordings of the show to be delivered to closed networks in small mining towns such as Mt Newman in Western Australia.

The show was hosted by Colin Pearce and Anne Storer and featured Pearce's ventriloquist puppets, Alexander, Jelly Been, Captain True-Blood-Has Been and Mr Sad.

Floor crew and directors included Owen Crocker, Kym Mavromatis, Malcolm Pollard, Neville Davis, Ian Steuart and Noel Schmidt. Henry the birthday puppet was operated by 12-year-old Gavin Blieschke who also swept the floor and tidied cables as an after-school job. He stayed in the industry, becoming a news cameraman, documentary editor and production business owner.

Just Kids!

Just Kids! (Hindi: बस बच्चे!) is an animated television series that has been telecast on Sahara TV. The show was hosted by Yash Pathak and included various cartoon series like Simba - The Lion King, The Great Book Of Nature, Zorro, The Story Of Cinderella, Pocahontas, Christopher Columbus, Sandokan, Denver - The Last Dinosaur, Jungle Book etc.

Most of these animated series were Italian-Japanese and translated into Hindi after Sahara TV has acquired from the internationally popular Mondo TV, telecast rights for 260 hours of animated children's programming. The titles include the famous Simba - The Lion King, Pocahontas, Cinderella, Zorro, Christopher Columbus, Sandokan and The Great Book Of Nature. Mondo TV has 25,000 hours of television software and is in international competition with Walt Disney.

Two of these shows were shown everyday and Bhalu Sahab ki Kahani (The Great Book of nature) was shown at the end. This was one of most watched kids show of that time.

Proposed top-level domain

The Domain Name System of the Internet consists of a set of top-level domains which constitute the root domain of the hierarchical name space and database. In the growth of the Internet, it became desirable to expand the set of initially six generic top-level domains in 1984. As a result new top-level domain names have been proposed for implementation by ICANN. Kids (Jamiroquai song)

"The Kids" is the lead single taken from British funk/acid jazz band Jamiroquai's second studio album, The Return of the Space Cowboy, though it was recorded shortly after the Emergency on Planet Earth sessions. The single was only released in Japan, on 30 June 1994. "The Kids" is a song that deals with the rights of children and their social status in the world. The song is written to be absurdly loud and high in tempo, to possibly represent the immaturity of children, and more generally the whole early childhood of a person, which is usually a carefree time of life.

Background

It is commonly known amongst fan circles that "The Kids" was written and performed during the 1993 Emergency on Planet Earth tour. It may either have been an outtake from the album, or simply a song written after the album was fully produced and released. The live version of the track played during the tour had a different chorus when compared to the official album version. After "The Kids" was recorded with previous drummer, Nick Van Gelder, Derrick McKenzie replaced Nick, and all tracks from the Space Cowboy recording sessions were re-recorded with McKenzie on drums, aside from "The Kids", on which van Gelder's drumming remains. The song was probably left to be because of time constraints related to the mastering process, production and release.
