Jules Mark Shear (born 1952) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He wrote the Cyndi Lauper hit single "All Through the Night" and The Bangles' hit "If She Knew What She Wants", and had a minor hit as a performer with "Steady", which reached number 57 on the US charts in 1985.
Shear was born in Pittsburgh in 1952. He attended the University of Pittsburgh. He had distinguished himself with the Pitt Glee Club where he led a special side ensemble called Wooden Music, which used acoustic instruments, in a foreshadowing of his "Unplugged" concept. One of his noted songs of the time, which he performed in concerts with the glee club, was "Always in the Morning." He left Pitt after three years in 1973, and headed to Los Angeles to pursue a music career.
Shear is married to singer/songwriter Pal Shazar.
Friends they call me on the phone
´Cause I´m steady, oooh, I'm steady
Talk about unhappy homes
´Cause I´m steady, oooh, I´m steady
Though I don´t like to let it show
I got troubles of my own
We push and pull and we fall apart (woah)
I´m not gonna die of a broken heart (nooo)
I just don´t want to stop and start
´Cause I´m steady, oooh, I´m steady
Day to day is so unsure
But I´m steady, oooh, I´m steady
I watch people crash and soar
But I´m steady, oooh, I'm steady
The more they try so hard to change
The more they stay the same
We push and pull and we fall apart (woah)
I´m not gonna die of a broken heart (nooo)
I just don´t want to stop and start
´Cause I´m steady, oooh, I'm steady
Ooh Yeah!
We´re faced with so much back and forth
I don´t need no ups and downs
We push and pull and we fall apart (woah)
I´m not gonna die of a broken heart (nooo)
I just don´t want to stop and start
´Cause I´m steady ooohhh
I´m steady oohhh oohhh oohhh
