Josef Ringo

Josef Abramovich Ringo (Russian: Иосиф Абрамович Ринго) was a Russian scientist, inventor, writer.

Life and career

Josef Ringo was born in Vitebsk, moved to Switzerland and then to France. He graduated from the Universities of Bern and Zurich, got an education as an engineer and philosopher. He was fluent in five languages.

In 1917 in Switzerland he published the book Jewish Question in its Historical Context and its Proposed Solution (German: Die Judenfrage in ihrem geschichtlichen Zusammenhang und Vorschläge ihrer Lösung). In the book, he analyzed the history of the Jewish people, and wrote about the need of the State of Israel.

In Switzerland Josef met Vladimir Lenin. Lenin invited Ringo to come to Moscow to take part in the plan of electrification of Moscow. From 1918 to 1922 he worked as the head of the electric department of Moscow and the Moscow region. In 1921 under Lenin's order Ringo managed to electrify the residence of Lenin in Gorki in an extremely short amount of time. Ringo patented a large number of inventions, including patents in the field of lightning protection.

Ringo Starr

Richard Starkey,MBE (born 7 July 1940), known professionally as Ringo Starr, is an English musician, singer, songwriter and actor who gained worldwide fame as the drummer for the Beatles. He occasionally sang lead vocals, usually for one song on an album, including "With a Little Help from My Friends", "Yellow Submarine" and their cover of "Act Naturally". He also wrote the Beatles' songs "Don't Pass Me By" and "Octopus's Garden", and is credited as a co-writer of others, including "What Goes On" and "Flying".

Starr was twice afflicted by life-threatening illnesses during childhood, and as a result of prolonged hospitalisations fell behind in school. In 1955, he entered the workforce and briefly held a position with British Rail before securing an apprenticeship at a Liverpool equipment manufacturer. Soon afterwards, he became interested in the UK skiffle craze, developing a fervent admiration for the genre. In 1957, he cofounded his first band, the Eddie Clayton Skiffle Group, which earned several prestigious local bookings before the fad succumbed to American rock and roll by early 1958.

Ringo (1978 film)

Ringo is a 1978 TV movie starring Ringo Starr as a both fictionalized version of himself, and as his fictional half-brother "Ognir Rrats". It also features an all-star cast, including Art Carney, Carrie Fisher and George Harrison. Ringo performs songs from his then-current album Bad Boy and older material. The film's story is loosely based on The Prince and the Pauper.

The program finished 53rd of 65 network prime-time programs for the week.

Ringo (singer)

Ringo (born Guy Bayle 11 May 1947), in Toulouse, France, also known as Ringo Willy Cat is a French pop–singer, who became famous in the seventies. According to Billboard magazine he "enjoyed a huge amount of sales" with various hits. Ringo was cited by Billboard as an example of a French artist having a big impact in exporting French songs to the international arena and creating international hits despite the existing language barrier which the French artists face abroad. He was married to Sheila, a female French singer. Ringo's career ended in the mid–'80s.

Early life

Ringo, during his high-school years in Toulouse, enjoyed reading Albert Camus as well as literary works by other authors. He also wrote and performed songs and played the guitar. As a composer he was influenced by the American music of the era. In the late '60s he met musician Pierre Groscolas and the two formed the group Chœurs. After some initial success in Toulouse, the group decided to go to Paris.

Josef (film)

Josef is 2011 Croatian drama and war film directed by Stanislav Tomić depicting war story of Austrian-Hungarian Croat soldier during World War I in 1915 in Galicia.

In the film, stress is given to effective photos, music, violence and sex.

The film is written by Mario Marko Krce.

Opening song of the film, "Josef", is composed and played by Marko Perković.

Critics were very positive. Critics especially praised costumes and scenography, even though film was produced with low budget and in an independent production.

The film won the Golden Arena for Best Special Effects at the 2011 Pula Film Festival.

Plot

In 1915, during World War I in Galicia, Croatian soldiers serving in the Austro-Hungarian Army were sent on Eastern Front to fight against Russian Army and Circassian bandits. An Austrian-Hungarian soldier who has survived the battle, a Croat, takes uniform and identification tag from a dead NCO. A problem occurs when Austrian-Hungarian officer finds out that the soldier is not the one he claims to be.

Final Fantasy II

Final Fantasy II (ファイナルファンタジーII, Fainaru Fantajī Tsū) is a fantasy role-playing video game developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) in 1988 for the Family Computer as the second installment of the Final Fantasy series. The game has received numerous enhanced remakes for the WonderSwan Color, the Sony PlayStation, the Game Boy Advance, the PlayStation Portable, and multiple mobile and smartphone types. As neither this game nor Final Fantasy III were initially released outside Japan, Final Fantasy IV was originally released in North America as Final Fantasy II, so as not to confuse players. The most recent releases of the game are enhanced versions for the iOS and Android, which were released worldwide in 2010 and 2012, respectively.

The game's story centers on four youths whose parents were killed during an army invasion by the empire of Palamecia, who are using hellspawn to conquer the world. Three of the four main characters join a rebellion against the empire, embarking on missions to gain new magic and weapons, destroy enemy superweapons, and rescue leading members of the resistance. The Game Boy Advance remake adds a bonus story after the game is completed.
