  • Luis Gil

Luis Gil (born November 14, 1993 in Garden Grove, California) is an American soccer player currently playing for Querétaro in Liga MX.

    Career

    Club

Luis Gil attended the IMG Soccer Academy in Bradenton, Florida in 2008 as a youth player. He turned professional when he signed a Generation Adidas contract with Major League Soccer in February 2010, spurning interest from major European clubs such as Premier League side Arsenal.

Having signed a GA deal after the MLS draft, Gil was placed in a weighted lottery to allocate him to an MLS club. On February 22, 2010, Kansas City Wizards won the rights to Gil despite the player having stated his preference before the lottery to play for a western-based club. The following day, MLS helped engineer Gil's trade to Real Salt Lake in exchange for an international roster slot, a second-round pick in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft, and 25 percent of any future transfer fee should RSL sell Gil outside of MLS. Gil made his professional debut as a substitute against D.C. United in the 2010 US Open Cup.

    José Luís

José Luis Lopes Costa e Silva (born 17 May 1958), known as José Luís, is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as an attacking midfielder.

    Club career

Born in Lisbon, José Luís was promoted to hometown's S.L. Benfica's first team at only 18, finishing his first season with 25 games, 20 starts and two goals as the club won the national championship. Until the end of his tenure he was irregularly used by the Eagles, his best years being 1983 to 1985 as he appeared in 57 matches combined – six goals – and won the 1984 league and the following year's Portuguese Cup; he also played the full 90 minutes in the 1982–83 UEFA Cup final's first hand, a 0–1 away loss against R.S.C. Anderlecht (1–2 on aggregate).

Luís left Benfica in the 1987 summer and signed for C.S. Marítimo, competing in a further four top division campaigns and eventually amassing totals in the competition of 283 games and 28 goals. He retired in June 1993 at the age of 35, after two years with A.D. Ovarense in the second level.
