Jorgie Porter

Jorgina Alexandra "Jorgie" Porter (born 25 December 1987) is an English actress and model. She is best known for portraying Theresa McQueen in the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, a role she has played since 2008. In 2016, Porter will leave the programme to pursue a career in Hollywood.

Early life

Porter was born in Trafford, Greater Manchester on Christmas Day, 1987. She grew up with her mother, grandmother and sister and has only met her father once. A former ballet dancer, she was told by the ballet school she attended that she was overweight for a dancer. She later attended The Hammond School in Chester, Cheshire.

Career

In November 2008, it was announced that Porter had joined the cast of the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, playing the role of Theresa McQueen. Porter said that she was "thrilled" to join the cast and be a part of one of soap opera's "most notorious families". In October 2013, she said she was leaving Hollyoaks at the end of her contract. However, in April 2014, just three months after leaving, she announced her return to the show, and in August 2014 made her first re-appearance. In July 2015, it was announced that she had decided to leave the show to pursue an acting and modelling career in Hollywood, and that her temporary exit would be broadcast in early 2016.
