Jordan Crane

Jordan Crane may refer to:

  • Jordan Crane (comics) (born 1973), American comics creator
  • Jordan Crane (rugby union) (born 1986), English rugby union player

  • Jordan Crane (cartoonist)

Jordan Crane (born September 8, 1973) is an American comics creator.

Crane first emerged in 1996 with the anthology NON, which he edited, contributed to, and published. This anthology combines influences from Art Spiegelman’s RAW and newer comics artists. After two more issues of NON, he moved to Massachusetts and began collaborating with the now defunct comics publisher Highwater Books. (There are five issues of Non in total, all including work by Crane.)

He has written two novels, The Last Lonely Saturday and Col-Dee.

Crane's most recent book, The Clouds Above, is a fast-paced children's story which follows the adventures of a boy named Simon and his large cat named Jack. They battle angry clouds, peevish birds and elude the grasp of an overbearing teacher, with the effect resonating somewhere between Where the Wild Things Are and The Wizard of Oz.

Crane is currently working on a quarterly comic called Uptight where he presents new short stories and serializes his long-running work Keeping Two. In 2009 Uptight won two Ignatz Awards for "Outstanding Series" and "Outstanding Comic" (for Uptight #3).

    Jordan Crane (rugby union)

Jordan Crane (born 3 June 1986 in Bromsgrove) is a professional Rugby Union player, who currently plays for Leicester Tigers having moved from Yorkshire Carnegie at the end of the 2005–06 season. Crane has also played internationally for England.

Crane is renowned for his impressive physique and powerful runs from the base of the scrum. He consistently ranks as one of the most frequent carriers of the ball in English club rugby.

He switched to playing rugby union relatively late after playing football for a number of professional clubs' junior sides.

    Club career

Crane made his debut for his former club, Leeds Tykes, in the nine-all draw at FC Grenoble in the European Challenge Cup in October 2004 aged just 18. He went on to make 29 appearances for the Tykes in all competitions scoring five tries, including a hat trick against Valladolid RAC in the European Challenge Cup.

After Leeds were relegated in the 2005–06 season, Crane left the club to sign for the Leicester Tigers.

    Jordan (Bishop of Poland)

Jordan (died in 982 or 984) was the first Bishop of Poland from 968 with his seat, most probably, in Poznań. He was an Italian or German.

Most evidence shows that he was missionary bishop subordinate directly to the Pope. He arrived in Poland, probably from Italy or the Rhineland, in 966 with Doubravka of Bohemia to baptise Mieszko I of Poland. After the death of Jordan until 992 the throne of the Bishop of Poland was vacant, or there was a bishop of unknown name (the first theory is more probable). His successor, from 992, was Unger.
