Ranter-Go-Round

Ranter-Go-Round (also known as Chase the Ace, Cuckoo, Bohemian Poker, or Screw Your Neighbor) is a card game with bluffing elements.

It is related to the dedicated deck card or tile game Gnav.

Play

Any number of players, 52 cards. The object is to not have the lowest card at the table. The ranking of cards from highest to lowest is: K Q J 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 A, or alternately A K Q J 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2. Suit is irrelevant.

Each player has an equal number of counters placed in front of them - usually from 2 to 4 - to mark his or her "lives". (Alternatively, a dollar bill or other note may be used, and players use the corners to mark their lives, folding a corner in when a life is lost.) Cards are dealt, one card to each, face down. Starting to the left of the dealer - each in turn examines their card. If they are satisfied with their card they may keep it, usually simply by announcing, "I'm good." or similar. However, if they are unsatisfied they may pass it to the player on their left while announcing that they are "not good", receiving that player's card back in return. The player to the left is obliged to exchange for the unwanted card unless they currently hold a King at which time they can refuse the card by showing their King. That transaction completed, privilege now passes to the player to the left who may or may not have a new card to decide on. (Players who have shown a King in defense are considered to have completed their play.) Play continues to the left as such. Once we reach the dealer the dealer has the same decision as any other player except that they exchange with the top card on the remaining deck instead of another player.

Cuckoo (2014 film)

Cuckoo is a 2014 Tamil romantic drama film directed by Raju Murugan and produced by Fox Star Studios. The film stars Dinesh and Malavika Nair as a visually challenged pair, while Aadukalam Murugadoss plays a pivotal role. The film was released on 21 March 2014 and received generally positive reviews.

Johnny (1963) is the 19th album released by singer Johnny Mathis. It is his 15th original studio album, with four compilations of hit singles having been released by him at this point.

Overview

Collaborating once again with arranger/conductor Don Costa who had scored Rapture the previous year, Mathis is heard in a program of ballads and swingers. As with most of Mathis' albums around this time, the program is made up of well-known standards through to rarer material making for an interesting listening experience.

Johnny (2003 film)

Johnny is a Tollywood sports film released on 25 April 2003, written and directed by Pawan Kalyan. Kalyan also starred in the film, along with Renu Desai. The film didn't perform well commercially, Box Office India declared it a flop. Also, it proved to be the biggest flop in Pawan Kalyan's film career.

Plot

Johnny (Pawan Kalyan) loses his mother as a kid. He then runs away from his father (Raghuvaran) as he is a chain smoker, a drinker, and doesn't care for his son. Years later, Johnny becomes a martial arts coach. One day, a girl named Geeta (Renu Desai) lodges a complaint on Johnny for beating up a man. Later, Geeta comes to know that it was a misunderstanding. After Geeta apologises, both become friends and eventually get married. After marriage, Johnny finds out that his wife has cancer. Borrowing as much money as he can from his friends, he moves to Mumbai but he is still short.

Johnny learns from a stranger that there are boxing fights every day. At first, Johnny refuses the offer but when he sees the condition of his wife, he accepts the offer and goes through kickboxing competitions to raise money. Geeta's condition deteriorates to the point that Johnny needs Rs. 200,000 overnight. The owner of the boxing fights makes a deal with Johnny that he must fight two professional martial artists to get the amount overnight. The rest is how he defeats them.

Creation and influences

Daisuke Ishiwatari has cited Kazushi Hagiwara's manga Bastard‼, and the fighting game Street Fighter II as influence to the Guilty Gear series. However, he noted that the majority of other fighting games were just recycling the character's same skins or style, and so he wanted every character "to be unique in their own way."Kazuhiko Shimamoto's characters was also noted as an inspiration for the men characters, with Ishiwatari saying they needed to be "chivalrous person-like characters", and citing Anji Mito "the most closest to this type". The female ones, on the other hand, have not followed a standard, with he only saying that they needed look like real women.

There are many musical references in the Guilty Gear series, including various characters' names and moves, which were inspired by rock and heavy metal bands like Queen, Guns N' Roses, and Metallica. For instance, the main character, Sol Badguy, was named after Queen's lead vocalist, Freddie Mercury. Both his real name, Frederick, and his last name were influenced by the singer, whose nickname was "Mr. Badguy".
