John Andrew Park (Hangul: 박성규, Hanja: 朴成奎, born September 13, 1988) is an American singer of Korean descent. He was a semifinalist on the ninth season of American Idol; placing twentieth. He is the runner-up of Superstar K2, a Korean singing contest held by M.net. He is currently signed to Music Farm Entertainment.
Biography
Early life
John Park was born in Chicago; prior to entering Superstar K2, he was a student at Northwestern University majoring in Economics. He was a member of his college A capella group Purple Haze. He was the semi finalist of American Idol. He later auditioned for the Korean equivalent of "American Idol", Superstar k2, and finished second.
Education
Park attended Glenbrook North High School. He is an Economics major at Northwestern University. He is currently taking a break from college to pursue a singing career in Korea.

John Park (inventor)
John Esten Park, (1814 - 1872), educated in chemistry and medicine, experimented with using concrete to construct buildings before the American Civil War. His work left the town of Seguin, Texas, with the largest concentration of 19th-century concrete structures in the U.S., if not the largest such concentration in the world.
Early years
John E. Park was born in 1814, in Eatonton, Putnam County, Georgia, to James and Martha (Yandell) Park. About 1835, he married Rebecca Rosella Hubbard (1808-1877); they had seven children. He studied at the Louisville Medical Institute in Kentucky. His interest in concrete construction may have come from familiarity with the burgeoning Louisville cement industry, spurred by the widespread use of concrete able to harden under water for dams, locks, sewers, and other construction along the Ohio River.
Dr. Park took his family to Seguin, probably in 1846. There in Central Texas he found that the materials necessary for concrete production (gravel, sand, lime, and clay) were readily available. Gravel beds and sand bars occurred along the Guadalupe River. Lime could be made from limestone quarried nearby or from rocks washed down the river bottom. Caliche, thick sedimentary deposits of gravelly clay, lay so close to the surface that it was often dug to make a basement before being used in the concrete mix.
John Park (politician)
John Park (born 14 September 1973) is a Scottish Labour Party politician and was elected a Member of the Scottish Parliament for the Mid Scotland and Fife electoral region in May 2007. Park resigned his seat with effect from 7 December 2012 and is replaced by Jayne Baxter.
Background
Park was formerly a trade union official working for Unite (formerly Amicus and the Amalgamated Engineering and Electrical Union) and the Scottish TUC. He started working in Rosyth Dockyard in 1989 as an electrical apprentice. He became active in the Dockyard's influential trade unions during the Trident refitting campaign in the early 1990s. After becoming a shop steward he was elected the Dockyard's youngest ever full time trade union convenor in 1998.
Member of the Scottish Parliament
Park was appointed the Labour Party's Skills spokesperson following the election of Wendy Alexander as leader in September 2007 and quickly established a campaign to increase the number of apprentices in Scotland. He was appointed in September 2008 to Iain Gray's Shadow Cabinet as the Shadow Minister for Economy and Skills. Park resigned his seat on 7 December 2012, to take up a position with the Community trades union. He is replaced by the next available Labour candidate from the Mid Scotland and Fife list, Fife Councillor Jayne Baxter (Cowdenbeath).
