John Ficarra

John Ficarra has been the editor-in-chief of Mad since 1984, sharing the position for most of that time with Nick Meglin. He first joined the editorial staff of the magazine in 1981, shortly after his debut as a contributing writer.

Ficarra

Ficarra is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Messina in the Italian region Sicily, located about 130 kilometres (81 mi) east of Palermo and about 60 kilometres (37 mi) west of Messina, in the Monti Nebrodi. It is surrounded by woods of hazel and olive trees.

History

Ficarra is believed to be Mediaeval in origin, possibly during the Muslim Emirate of Sicily. The name may be derived from the Arabic Fakhar (meaning: glorious), or the Sicilian Ficara (meaning: a field of figs).
