Joginder Singh Sahnan

Subedar Joginder Singh Sahnan, PVC (26 September 1921 – 23 October 1962), a SainiSikh, born in Moga, Punjab (British India), was a Subedar in the Indian Army who was awarded the distinguished Param Vir Chakra, the highest war-time gallantry award of the Indian Army. On 28 September 1936, he was enrolled in the 1 Sikh Regiment. His father, Sher Singh Sahnan, belonged to an agricultural Saini Sikh family which had relocated to village Mahla Kalan near Moga from village Munaka of district Hoshiarpur. His mother's name was Bibi Krishan Kaur Bhela. He married Bibi Gurdyal Kaur Banga, who was from a Saini family of village Kothay Rara Singh near Kot Kapura. He went to primary school in village Nathu Ala and to village Daroli for his middle school.

Military action

During the 1962 Sino-Indian War, Subedar Joginder Singh commanded a platoon in the Tawang sector of NEFA (North East Frontier Agency). While holding a defensive position on a ridge in Tongpeng La area on Bum La axis, the platoon noticed heavy Chinese concentration opposite Bum La across the McMohan Line on October 20. This was indeed a preparatory to the Chinese advance on Bum La axis on October 23.

Joginder Singh (field hockey)

Joginder Singh (August 3, 1939 – November 6, 2002), nicknamed "Gindi", was an Indian hockey player. Playing in the right-wing position, he won the silver medal with his team at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome and the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta, and then the gold medal at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He was born in Delhi.

After retiring, he settled in Kolkata, where he worked as a sports officer for the Bengal Nagpur Railway (BNR), which was later renamed the South Eastern Railway (SER).

He died at age 63 after a protracted kidney illness.

Joginder

Joginder (real name Joginder Shelly) was an Indian actor, director, producer, writer, singer, songwriter and distributor. Two Hindi films produced–directed–written–acted–distributed by him were "Super Hits" – Bindiya aur Bandook and Ranga Khush. (In Indian cinema any film which runs for over 50 weeks continuously is classified as "Super Hit.") He successfully instituted a plagiarism suit against the producers of one of India's greatest films Sholay for substantially copying his work. The character Ranga Khush was a household name in India in the 1970s, especially among little children who copied his maniacal laugh and rolling eyeballs, and favourably compares with Gabbar Singh who copied him. The film Ranga Khush was a spinoff from Joginder's two-word dialogue in Bindiya aur Bandook (known internationally as "The girl with the gun").

He was often placed on lists of "worst movie directors", a fan-generated title he shared with Ed Wood. In common with Wood, Joginder made a run of cheap and poorly produced films, now humorously celebrated for their unsophisticated special effects, large amounts of ill-fitting stock footage, idiosyncratic dialogue, eccentric casts and outlandish plot elements, although his flair for showmanship gave his projects at least a modicum of commercial success.
