Jithan is a 2005 Tamil supernatural romantic thriller film directed by Vincent Selva. The film stars debutant Jithan Ramesh, Pooja, R. Sarathkumar, Livingston and Kalabhavan Mani. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by Srikanth Deva. The film was a surprise hit in 2005. It is written by noted personality, Ram Gopal Varma and produced by Raadan Network owned by Raadhika. A remake of Bollywood film, Gayab.
Priya breaks the affair with Surya after she gets a proposal from a rich man Ajay. Surya by accident becomes invisible. He hits Ajay and advises Priya to give up Ajay. As he is invisible and others can only hear his voice, he tells them that he is God. Taking the advantage of invisibility, he loots a bank. Thamizharasu is the ACP who is assigned to investigate the bank robbery.Later on in the film Surya reveals that he'd loved Priya (Pooja)since his childhood. Then Singampuli shoots Surya as the rain reveals the invisible Surya.
The satellite rights of the film were secured by Sun TV. The film was given a "U/A" certificate by the Indian Censor Board.
Jithan 2 is an upcoming Tamil horror film directed by Rahul and written by Vincent Selva. The film is a sequel to Jithan (2005), and features Jithan Ramesh and Srushti Dange in the leading roles. The film began production in December 2013 and will release in mid 2015.
In September 2013, RPM productions is began working on a sequel to the successful 2005 film Jithan, with newcomer Rahul brought in as director. The team tried to bring in actor to play a parallel lead role, but were unsuccessful in their attempts. The film subsequently progressed throughout Chennai. Srushti Dange has been confirmed as the heroine for Jithan 2. The film was on the verge of completion in July 2014, with all portions apart from the songs finished. The team began post-production work in late 2014 and targeted a January 2015 release.
